Hi Jessica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Jessica, and I am the breeder behind Hope Lane Kennels located in Redding, CA. I am passionate about my dogs and love what I do! My mission is to produce the happiest, healthiest & most adorable puppy for every family. I specialize in Goldendoodles, Golden Retrievers, and Australian Labradoodles.
Breeding incredible puppies is my way to give back to the breeds and the families who love them. I love seeing each of our dogs and puppies thrive!.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Losing a puppy is always the hardest part of breeding, and oftentimes there isn’t a clear answer to why the puppy didn’t thrive.
As you know, we’re big fans of Hope Lane Kennels . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Yes! We run a small family based, in home, breeding program. While this was a childhood dream of mine, it has been so neat to see my husband, our kids, and my extended family get involved with raising healthy and well rounded puppies! My role is to see the overall process of our breeding program, including ordering all health testing, choosing future parent dogs, interviewing and selecting guardian homes, and pairing parent dogs for the perfect litter. My husband helps with the day-to-day of feeding and training our dogs & puppies, our children love to help socialize and clean up after the puppies, my Mom is our “puppy midwife” and helps me with every whelping, and some of my siblings help with puppy deliveries! It is a wonderful whole-family process.”
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was a shy and awkward homeschooled kid 🙂 I grew up in Niagara Falls, Canada, and always asked for dog and horse magazines for Birthdays. I loved volunteering at the Niagara Falls Humane Society
