Hidden Gems: Meet Jessica Easter of Abounding Grace Birth Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Easter.

Hi Jessica, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After marriage and beginning motherhood I felt stuck within my career. I had recently graduated with a bachelor of science in Pyschology and a minor in sociology, but I longed for something more. One day I came across a documentary called “The Business of Being Born”, It examines the, often, over-medicalized US maternity care system. It also critiques the shift from midwife-led care to hospital-based interventions, advocating for natural, patient-centered childbirth options. This led to my desired to return to school to study Midwifery in hopes of caring for moms in a home birth setting. My plan was to become a midwife but God had other plans. Upon finally learning about doulas I felt called into that sector of work. I understood that I could make an impact by caring moms wherever they give birth – hospitals, birth centers, or in the comfort of their homes under midwifery supervision. I’m extremely honored and forever grateful be allowed to advocate and support moms in the most vulnerable times of their lives. Birth work – There’s nothing like it!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I work with the public so of course there have been challenges! This February (2026) I celebrated EIGHT years of being a birth doula. My business has experienced phenomenal growth since I first began this work. The majority of my challenges are on the administration side – all the things to keep the business running. Challenges while doing birth work may vary – from breech babies, TOLACs (Trail of Labor After Cesarean), and encouraging some clients to follow my guidance to decrease their the chances of cesarean.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Some of my favorite resources that help me with doula work are Evidence Based Birth® and Spinning Babies®. A resource that has been beneficial for my life is the Dr. Keith Rogan (COTR Nashville) podcast. My source is God our Creator and His Word (The Holy Bible). It’s the greatest book of all time! It offers me spiritual growth and connection, wisdom for daily life, peace and comfort during difficult times, moral and ethical guidance, encouragement and hope, and mental reflection and personal growth. I absolutely would not be able to make it through life without it.
