Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Tjosvold.
Hi Joe, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my entrepreneurial journey with a passion for storytelling and a firm belief in the power of video to connect people. I founded Chezy with the aim of delivering excellent video production to businesses of all sizes. Early on, I saw that there was a void in the market, businesses couldn’t afford excellent video, or they didn’t know where to start. We founded Chezy to bridge the gap.
Before Chezy, I had been running and working on another production firm, Advertise Edge, and that gave me the experience of what works, and doesn’t work, within this space. But Chezy was a start-up company, and one based on simplicity, affordability, and scalability. We started in Fargo, North Dakota, and once we established traction there, we opened up shop in Nashville, Tennessee.
A lot of our early growth came from word-of-mouth, a great team, and staying scrappy. I’ve always believed in hiring people who are not only talented but also team players who find a way to get things done. Today, Chezy works with organizations across the country, from small nonprofits to major brands like Amazon and Ralph Lauren, because we’ve kept our promise to make video production simple, high-value, and personal.
The journey hasn’t been easy, like any founder, I’ve had burnout and self-doubt moments, but I’m pleased with the culture we’ve established and the stories we get to help our clients tell on a daily basis.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Smooth? Not even close. But I don’t think anyone signs up for entrepreneurship thinking it’ll be easy.
There were definitely moments where things felt shaky, especially in the early years. Sales would slow, cash flow got tight, and I started to question if we were in over our heads. There’s a lot they don’t teach you when you start a business, like how to balance creative ambition with the reality of payroll and operations.
One of the biggest challenges was scaling without losing what made us great in the first place. As we grew and opened new markets, we had to be really intentional about hiring. It wasn’t just about talent, it was about finding people who cared, who could roll with the punches, and who wanted to build something special together.
There were definitely moments of burnout and self-doubt. But what kept us grounded was our core values: do what’s right, be a team player, and always find a way. Those have carried us through some pretty chaotic chapters.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Chezy Video Co.?

We specialize in creating storytelling video content for businesses and nonprofits of every size, from small community groups to national brands like Amazon and Ralph Lauren.
What sets us apart is our synergy of quality, quantity, and simplicity of project management for our clients. Brand-wise, we’re most proud of the trust our customers have in us and the relationships we’ve built. Our motto is “The Most Value in Video” and we truly live by that. We want readers to know that if you’ve ever thought video was too expensive or intimidating, Chezy was made for you.
How do you think about luck?
Luck has absolutely played a role, both good and bad, but I’ve learned that what you do with those moments is what really matters.
On the good luck side, we’ve been fortunate to have global brands reach out to us for video projects, opportunities we never expected so early on. Those moments were definitely a gift, and we worked hard to be ready when they came.
On the flip side, starting a business in the middle of COVID came with real challenges. We had to prioritize the health and safety of our team and clients at a time when no one had a playbook. On top of that, there was deep economic uncertainty and a wave of circumstances completely out of our control. We were forced to adapt quickly, think creatively, and solve problems we never imagined facing.
At the end of the day, I believe luck favors the tenacious. We’ve had breaks, but we’ve worked relentlessly to earn and maximize them. Grit, timing, and an incredible team have played the biggest role in where we are today.
