

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Montgomery.
Hi Joshua, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got my start in the nonprofit world, working with an afterschool STEM program through Cornell University, and later served as a youth and college pastor for about 10 years. At the heart of both roles was a deep commitment to education, community, and walking alongside people as they grow.
Like many of us, the pandemic prompted a season of reflection and change: and for me, that meant stepping into a new chapter. I transitioned into the mortgage industry, and absolutely fell in love with it. It’s been an incredibly rewarding shift, and I haven’t looked back.
The common thread through every season of my career has been people. Helping them build strong foundations, whether it’s in their personal journey or their long-term financial goals. That’s where I thrive, and that’s what continues to drive me today.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Let’s be honest, no one in real estate has had a perfectly smooth ride. I got licensed in February 2022, right as the refi boom ended and mortgage rates shot up. Starting my business during that shift taught me how to problem-solve fast, stay flexible, and keep perspective.
Not everything is in my control, but almost everything is fixable. And that mindset has become one of my biggest strengths.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a mortgage broker with New Paradigm Lending, and for us, it’s people over paperwork always. As a brokerage, we have access to a wide range of loan options (Conventional, FHA, VA, Jumbo, and more), but what truly sets us apart is how we use that flexibility to tailor the best fit for each client.
Every loan is processed start to finish by one dedicated broker. No handoffs, no confusion. You get the loan products and technology of a big bank or retail firm, but with the personal touch of someone who answers the same phone my grandma calls me on (and I don’t miss her calls either!).
What I’m most proud of is the trust I’ve built by showing up consistently and treating every transaction like it matters, because it does. At the end of the day, this work is about more than just mortgages, it’s about helping people build something that lasts. That’s the heart of what I do, and the heart of New Paradigm Lending!
What matters most to you? Why?
Community. Whether it’s a client, a colleague, my neighbor, a musician, bartender, or even a stranger at the grocery store: I see every interaction as an opportunity to make a new friend. These relationships fill my life with purpose and remind me that we’re stronger when we build something together. True community takes time and intention, but it’s one of the most rewarding things we can invest in!
