Hidden Gems: Meet Josie Passantino-Boone of The Josie Network

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josie Passantino-Boone.

Josie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My professional story began when I was fourteen years old and started a radio show with friends at the time.

My friends lost interest after a couple of episodes, but I had caught the broadcasting bug. I loved it! I changed the name to The Josie Show and started out on my own.

After a little while, my schedule was getting busy, so my mother enrolled me in a school for children in the entertainment field. My mother resigned from the company she worked with as a manager and started helping me full time. Until today we are a daughter/mother team. I manage the creative and she manages the business side of things. It is perfect!

We are now in our 14th year of The Josie Show (syndicated radio talk show) heard on iHeartRadio, Spotify, iTunes, WTRB, our website, and more weekly. Since the start of the Josie Show in 2009, we have developed multiple brands. On my 18th birthday, we launched a licensed, global radio station, Country Blast Radio, along with the following brands The Josie Music Awards (the largest, multi-genre, privately-owned, independent award show). This year being held at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee, JMA Fest (all genre music festival), Confidently Ready (beauty line), IndiesVoice Magazine, Cavalla Records, Indie Star Publishing, Indie Star Entertainment, The Bobby Ray Boone Music Foundation, The Artist Collection (published book), The 7th Annual Josie Music Awards Book (published book currently in its first stage of edits). The Josie Music Association, The Independent Country Music Hall of Fame, and The Independent Country Gospel Bluegrass Music Association. We love working with great talents in the independent music industry. We ensure that in everything we do, we find a way to include independent artists, songwriters, and businesses.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve been fortunate that I have had such great support and encouragement along the way from most people. The only challenges I had were early on such as my public school not being accepting of what I was doing in radio.

So, the move in schools made a big difference for me. I learned early on that if the basic path doesn’t work, I just create a new one.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about The Josie Network of Brands?
We have multiple brands that are all focused on those in the independent music industry. We use every means we can to help promote independent artists and their projects. Currently, The Josie Music Awards and The Josie Show are our busiest brands.

I am proud of the fact that our businesses are led with our hearts, and we are all about building a family within our brands that can celebrate and collaborate. Each year our Josie Music Awards event is like a huge family reunion where everyone is happy to see familiar faces and welcome in all the fresh faces too.

We are a strong, supportive family of artists, businesses, and songwriters. There is nothing like the feeling you get when you are standing in that room with such a strong outpouring of love for each other and the music. We are most proud of the JMA Music Family we have built.

What makes you happy?
Anytime I am involved in something music-related I am happy because music is healing, motivating, enjoyable, and relaxing. Whatever you need or feel, there is music out there for your every mood or feeling.
