Hidden Gems: Meet Katie Reynolds of Women Who Own

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Reynolds

Hi Katie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was a military spouse for 12 years, moved all over the world, and never had the opportunity to own a home. While going through a divorce a couple years ago, I settled back home in Nashville and I was adamant about purchasing my first home. I vividly remember thinking I would move back home with my mom for 3 months while I was waiting for my divorce to be finalized, our finances to be separated, and while I pulled myself together, looked for a job, and found a house to buy. Well, my timeline of 3 months did not happen, but 15 months later all of those pieces were finally in place and I purchased my FIRST home all by myself.

Being single at 37, purchasing my first home is NOT how I saw life happening and I would have loved a group of women surrounding me going through the homebuying process who had that similar goal. And I would have loved a safe space focused on education to ask ALL the questions as I prepped for that journey.

A few years after buying my first home, I became a full time Realtor in the Nashville area and quickly found my niche of helping women through the home buying process. After noticing the need in the market for agents focused specifically on women, I realized there was an opportunity to combine my love for education with my career in real estate. I decided to really focus on the education piece of home buying to ensure women feel knowledgeable and confident with every step of the process. That is where Women Who Own was born. I now not only help women buy and sell their homes, but I host free homebuying classes for women taught by women in the industry.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Entrepreneurship is never a smooth road. It is a daily struggle for me as I navigate the right path for Women Who Own and determine the best way to grow the organization and promote brand recognition within our startup budget. Women Who Own is an excellent resource for women and I want to ensure I am making the right decisions that will extend its reach as far as possible.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Buying a home is the largest purchase most women will ever make and they should feel comfortable, confident, and knowledgeable throughout the entire process. Our Women Who Own classes bring together dynamic panels of professional women in the industry, each panel includes a Realtor, Financial Advisor and Lender to provide the most comprehensive class to our participants.

With the right education, support, and a plan in place, homeownership is achievable for every woman. Women Who Own is here to ensure every woman is empowered to make a decision that helps set herself and her family up for future success and financial freedom.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grew up locally in Franklin, TN. I went to school at the University of Tennessee and received a Master’s in Secondary Education. I thought I wanted to be a high school teacher, but life had other plans. I spent 18 years after college moving and working around the world and finally settled back home in Nashville, TN.

I have a 12 year old adorable, but stubborn pup who has traveled to 5 countries and 20+ states with me and I spend my free time hiking and playing pickleball. I lead a women’s hike every Tuesday night at 6:00, year round, in Percy Warner Park – the hike has been meeting every week for the last 2.5 years and all women are welcome! I am passionate about supporting, connecting, and empowering women in all aspects of life.
