Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Salter.
Hi Kim, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Thank you for inviting me to share my story! I’m hoping that when others read this, they will see that although the road may be curvy, we CAN work and live in our passion!!
Hi! I’m Kim Salter, and I am the owner of Design THOUGHTS Studio in East Nashville. I am an EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) Practitioner, an Intuitive Guide and coach, and a Clairvoyant Medium.
I guide people to truly connect with their inner knowing. Sometimes, that looks like “tapping” through trauma, using EFT, and sometimes that looks like helping them ignite their intuition. I am so passionate about empowering people to TRUST themselves. As you can imagine, in order to guide people to trust themselves, I had to learn how to trust myself first! So my road was winding, probably like yours! I started out as an Interior Designer in Michigan, and then in New York for 9 years.
As time moved on, and I became a mama, I felt my spark to create for others, fading. I was always pulled to a connection. Whether it was connecting others to their space (homes) or themselves but I didn’t feel fulfilled as an interior designer. In New York, I was a part of a magical sisterhood circle, and this is where I learned EFT (Tapping) for the first time. It changed my life, and I knew I had to teach others.
In 2012, my husband, son, and I moved from New York to Nashville. As soon as we arrived, I began a Nashville sisterhood circle. I loved facilitating gatherings with other women, I still owned a small interior Design Studio, but I knew there was more on the horizon. In that circle, I lead women to practice being heard, practice listening to others, but mostly, to their own divine knowing.
In 2014, I was approached by Ramona Reid, owner of Nashville Center for Alternative Therapy, and The Frequency Center. She asked me if I would be willing to offer EFT to her potential clients. I said NO (this still makes me laugh because this began a pivotal moment in my journey) but then, I said YES! and it began a very beautiful new path to my deepest passion!
Helping guide you to your most divine knowing!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Ease and struggle! It has been all of it! We are built so uniquely! It’s supposed to be smooth and bumpy and all things in between! I truly believe that our job is to allow ourselves to experience all of it!! So, I will get to the bumpy, but I want to start with the smooth. The smoothness is found in rooting back to my intention all the time.
I ask the question to myself “Does this choice or decision fit into the intention that I have set for this soul-centered business experience?” and I completely allow myself, and the intentions to change! One of my intentions is to ” Guide people to be empowered in their deepest knowing”.
I can do that in so many different ways! I LOVE the blueprint of change. I am a Projector in Human Design, so I am at my best when I follow the “Call” (or invitation) I learned a long time ago to have loose parameters, but a strong core intention!
Now, to the struggles along the way.
There have been many, but the biggest has been managing time as a business owner and a mom, letting the world in on the fact that I am a clairvoyant medium, and the fear of judgment in that, and also, I have worked really hard over the last 25 years to truly believe that If I don’t know how to do something, that doesn’t mean I am not smart, it means I am capable of asking someone for help!
I am a recovering people pleaser, and I have learned extremely strict boundaries in my business and personal life. I have learned that boundaries, for me, are what feed my ability to hold compassion and space for others, without resentment or burnout.

My Business, Design THOUGHTS Studio, is so tender to me. I hold it with such love and Joy.
I specialize in a few things! I am a Certified EFT/Tapping practitioner. EFT is an energy modality that helps guide people to release the energetic charge that is created in our bodies when we experience trauma (fight or flight response). EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) can be used for physical and emotional trauma!
I am so passionate about this form of energy work because it is A modality that every person, once they learn it, can do on their own! One of my big vision goals with EFT is to get it in the hands of a million people, so we can start to ignite our mental health in a way we haven’t before!
I am also an intuitive coach! I have 1 on 1 client and courses that guide people to their own intuition. We ALL have access to our intuition or gut knowing, but life sometimes clutters it! I help you clear that internal clutter and IGNITE it!! I also offer Medium Readings, which is such a beautiful process.
The biggest question I get about being a Medium is “How do you do this” and the answer is, I’m not entirely sure!! I know that since I was little, I was able to feel and see things that others couldn’t. I see things like a movie, and it’s one of my greatest honors to pass on information from people in my life that have passed.
My job is to be a clear vessel, and pass on what comes through!
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Two things that I think people would find surprising, is that I don’t keep my psychic ability open and on in public. SO If you see me out and about, I’m not “Reading” you! and also, I was a dancer since I was 5!
I took dance classes all the way through college and was an all-American dancer my senior year in high school.
