Today we’d like to introduce you to Maria Torres.
Hi Maria, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I have always had a love for fashion and found thrifting my clothing was a sustainable way to incorporate new pieces and unique items into my closet. As my closet grew more with collecting, I decided to start selling vintage clothing on Etsy in 2011. I continued my online vintage-selling journey for the following years. I opened my first brick-and-mortar location in East Nashville, in November of 2023.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road but it’s definitely rewarding. I think following what you love will always have challenges especially if it’s an unconventional path. Trusting your gut, and taking risks always feels scary but doing those two things has gotten me to where I am today.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Torres Vintage?
Torres Vintage is located on Gallatin Pike in East Nashville and is proudly Latina and LGBTQ+ owned. We are a brand focused on providing wearable vintage, and hope anyone that walks through the door can find a staple piece to add to their closet. Although we work with all fabrics, we particularly love finding items made out of natural materials like cotton, wool, silk and denim.
