Today we’d like to introduce you to Milton Martinez.
Hi Milton, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in El Salvador and moved to The United States when I was 14 years old. I had to learn English since I did not speak a single word. I went to Port Chester high school in New York and went for a Business administration and management major in Westchester Community College but had to drop due to financial reasons. Soon after that I moved to Vienna, VA where I started my carrier in the construction business. I got married in 2015 and had one Son.
In 2016 we took the decision my wife that we were going to move to the city of Clarksville,TN where our lives changed complete “Best decision ever”. I worked in a few places but nothing seem to be what I liked. My dad moved to TN in 2017 and that’s when we opened the flooring business. My dad at the time had been working for a company in Connecticut doing sanding and refinishing since 1997
When we started it was only the 2 of us and really quick we had to hire another person since we could not keep up with the work and continued to grow and at one point we had 13 employees. Back then we were only doing flooring installations and sanding & refinishing. we now offer hardwood installs, Carpet, vinyl, tile and epoxy floors. We are members of the National Wood Flooring Association and Clarksville Area Chamber of Commerce.
In July of 2025, we finally opened our first store in Clarksville,TN. We have a show room and sell any type of floors to our customers where I personally hand picked every single product that we sell. We are a company where quality matters and we make sure that every job gets done the right way.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been easy to get where we are and not having enough work has been one of them. When we got in the business construction in Tennessee was booming, houses everywhere but then the recession came in and we had to take the decision to start working more with regular clients then new construction builders since that market started to slow down. Now we have a large clientele, we have clients all over middle Tennessee. A great friend of mine always says “I’m not sure if we are bless or cursed” because we are always busy to the point that some of our clients have to wait 2-3 months for us to do their job.
Opening the store has been one of the biggest and scariest decision that we had to take. The first months were rough but now most of our clients that know that we have a store where they can trust that we will sell only quality products.

Martinez Flooring is a locally and family own business that serves Clarksville and all middle Tennessee. We sell and install all types of flooring but we specialize in solid hardwood installations and sanding and refinishing. Quality is our only priority and we always follow NWFA Gide lines and rules. We do not just sell a product, we sell experiences because we treat our customers like family and every job like our homes. We are not happy until our customers are. We only use high quality products because we found out that’s the only way to make sure our clients get the best flooring possible.
How do you define success?
Success is doing what you love and everyone around you knows that you do high quality jobs and wants to work with you because of your reputation and not price. Success is having a well known business and every time you go to a house the homeowners always say that we were highly recommended by at least 1-2 people.
