Hidden Gems: Meet Jenna Rose & Michelle Stone of Music City Movement

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Rose & Michelle Stone.

Hi Jenna and Michelle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Michelle (Elle): Born and raised in Nashville, I was writing and creating from a young age. I found myself pursuing many journeys and pathways of finding out who I was and my purpose here. My involvement in the industry came naturally growing up where I did, everyone I knew was a musician.

I found myself a part of all types of scenes from EDM to heavy metal. I met Jenna in 2020 and we both fell into the newly emerging rock scene of Nashville together. After working on other projects, we decided to create one of our own and that is how Music City Movement was formed.

Jenna: I grew up in the age of the fangirl and am stoked to be a member of that generation now infiltrating the music industry. In college, I customized my path into the music industry via events and hospitality. I ended up getting sidetracked in that realm for a while. (In a past life I was a wedding and events coordinator and design consultant).

After a huge shift in my life circumstance, I decided I needed to get back on track with my passion and life intention. I moved across the country from Northern California to Nashville in April 2020 to pursue the music business full-time. That’s where I met Michelle. Our visions and goals aligned seamlessly and the founding Music City Movement came naturally to both of us.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Michelle (Elle): Growing up was not so smooth for me, and I definitely had lots of shadow work to do to become the woman I am today.

Jenna: I had an extremely tough couple of years prior to the pandemic but 2020 ended up providing an enormous amount of growth and inner work for me. While extremely challenging, there have been some beautiful silver linings to the last year and a half and I’m very grateful to be where I am now.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Music City Movement is a monthly live music showcase that aims to foster relationships and build a supportive community and a local scene around original music in Nashville. We curate lineups that cater to that mission, pairing newer artists with complementary proven acts. We encourage everyone to get loud and “join the movement” – participate, interact, encourage, and take pride and ownership because it belongs to all of us and we’re all here “for the love of it.”

We really care about building genuine connections, providing resources, and helping music thrive. We aim to provide a positive experience for everyone involved and work towards contributing to everyone’s best interest. That includes the artists, the venues, the attendees, and the industry as a whole.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Michelle (Elle): I can sing and dance. I have written songs my whole life and I make music of my own, along with dance routines. I love movement!

Jenna: My dad owns an adventure travel company, so I grew up whitewater rafting, camping, hiking, anything outdoors. I’m very at home in nature, My main creative outlets are dancing (I’ve been a dancer my whole life) and modeling. Through those mediums, I try to perpetuate a message of body positivity and self-acceptance, leading by example, hoping to help give others permission to love and accept themselves.
