Hidden Gems: Meet Nicole De Senzo of Tom James Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole De Senzo

Hi Nicole, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
After attending Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania, I moved back to New Jersey and started a career in dentistry. A few years later, I decided to change paths and landed a job in pharmaceutical sales. This initial experience ultimately led to a recruiter from Tom James, the clothing company I work for now, reaching out with a new opportunity based in the Nashville Metropolitan Area. Without hesitation, I agreed to an interview, and a few months later, I moved to Nashville to start my new role as a Private Clothier/Wardrobe Consultant/Sales Professional.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has certainly not been a smooth road, to say the least. When I moved to Nashville and began working with Tom James, I was at a point in my life where I needed to grow immensely, both mentally and emotionally. Luckily, Tom James’ motto is ‘We Build People,’ and that’s exactly what they did for me. Growth is uncomfortable, but it’s imperative. I struggled with accountability, rejection, and, really, just facing the ‘hard things’ head-on instead of tiptoeing around them. Starting over in a new city and making new friends is hard enough, but building a clientele from scratch by finding like-minded people who enjoy working with you can be intimidating. However, when I decided to be myself and made helping others my main focus, both my personal life and business began to flourish. It became much less complicated when I broke it down like that and took the pressure off myself.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Tom James Company?
I travel around the Nashville Metropolitan Area to meet with my clients and create clothing for them, such as suits, sport coats, pants, dress shirts, jeans, dresses and skirts for the ladies, and a variety of casual clothes. Aside from that, I help them make sense of their wardrobes. Essentially, my goal is to ensure my clients are prepared. I work with busy people, and the constant feedback I receive is that by alleviating their clothing responsibilities, I’ve given them time back in their busy lives, allowing them to focus on other important areas instead. My clients vary—some wear suits to the office every day, some perform on stage in jeans, and others contact me occasionally when they need a new outfit for a special event. My clients work hard. They are incredibly valuable people who I believe owe it to themselves to feel and look their best every day. If I can help my clients achieve a new level of confidence while they’re out doing what they do best, then I am beyond happy.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Hold yourself accountable and don’t give up when times get tough, because they will. When you hang on a little longer, you’ll find that’s when life’s most beautiful moments seem to take place.
