Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Beaumont.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I guess you could say entrepreneurship is in my DNA.
I’m a third-generation hairdresser, and my biggest inspiration was my Nana. She was a strong, independent woman who owned and operated salons for nearly 30 years. My aunt followed in her footsteps, eventually opening her own salon in Missouri.
Growing up, I always admired the idea of building something of my own. When it came time to decide what I wanted to do with my life, I turned to the two women who knew the industry best. Funny enough, they had two completely different perspectives.
My Nana described entrepreneurship as one of the highlights of her life. She loved the freedom, the independence, and the pride that came with building something she could call her own. My aunt, on the other hand, warned me about the long days, emotional exhaustion, and sacrifices that came with running a business.
I appreciated both perspectives, but I wasn’t going to let someone else’s experience determine what mine could be.
So I went for it.
My first attempt at owning a business lasted about six months before I realized I had a lot to learn. I made the difficult decision to step away, work for someone else, and eventually find the courage to try again.
The second time around, I was determined to make it work. There were setbacks, financial challenges, and plenty of moments when I questioned myself. But every obstacle taught me something valuable, and each experience helped shape the business owner I was becoming.
Today, I’m the proud owner of Electric Edge Hair Studio, a private luxury salon and barbering space that reflects my creativity, individuality, and passion for what I do.
Unfortunately, my Nana passed away about a year before I opened my first business. She never got to see what I’ve built, but I like to think she’d be proud to know that I’m carrying on a little piece of her legacy while creating something entirely my own.
Looking back, I realize both my Nana and my aunt were right. Entrepreneurship isn’t always glamorous. It’s challenging, unpredictable, and sometimes downright exhausting. But there’s something incredibly rewarding about taking a chance on yourself and watching your vision come to life.
If there’s one thing this journey has taught me, it’s that believing in myself was the best decision I ever made.
The second best? Learning to trust the process.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Has it been a smooth road? Absolutely not! But I don’t think I’d appreciate where I am today nearly as much if it had been.
One of my biggest challenges was learning that being good at what you do doesn’t necessarily mean you know how to run a business. I had to learn a lot through trial and error, and sometimes those lessons came with a pretty hefty price tag.
I’ve experienced difficult work environments, a business partnership that didn’t work out, financial setbacks, and moments when I genuinely questioned whether I was making the right decisions.
At one point, I had to downsize my studio just to make things financially manageable. I spent the next year rebuilding, learning, and figuring out what I wanted my business to become.
Eventually, I was presented with an opportunity to expand into a larger space, which meant doubling my rent. It was terrifying, especially after everything I’d been through, but I decided to take the risk.
I have a sign in my studio that says trust the process, as a reminder each day.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Electric Edge Hair Studio ?
Electric Edge Hair Studio is a private, luxury salon and barbering studio where traditional grooming meets a modern, personalized experience.
I wanted to create something that felt different from your typical salon or barbershop. A space where people could come in, unwind, feel comfortable being themselves, and leave feeling like the best version of themselves.
I specialize in precision haircuts, customized styles, detailed grooming, and creating looks that complement each client’s individuality. Whether someone is looking for a simple refresh or a complete transformation, my goal is to make the experience just as enjoyable as the end result.
What sets Electric Edge apart is the one-on-one attention and the experience I’ve created around it. I believe a haircut should be more than just another appointment on someone’s calendar. It’s an opportunity to slow down, relax, and enjoy a little time for yourself.
I’ve incorporated services like scalp massages, hot towels, beard grooming, and relaxing treatments to bring a little luxury into everyday self-care.
What I’m most proud of is that Electric Edge truly reflects who I am. It’s a little edgy, a little unconventional, but welcoming, authentic, and built around genuine connections.
I want people to know that you don’t have to choose between a great haircut and a great experience. At Electric Edge, you get both.
It’s more than just a haircut. It’s an experience.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is living a life that feels authentic to who I am.
I’ve always believed that life is meant to be experienced, not just lived on autopilot. I want to continue growing, learning, challenging myself, and exploring everything life has to offer.
Freedom is a huge part of that for me. Not just financial freedom, but the freedom to make my own decisions, pursue my passions, and create a life that doesn’t revolve around someone else’s definition of success.
I also value genuine connections, meaningful experiences, and surrounding myself with people who encourage growth and individuality.
I’ve learned that success isn’t necessarily about how much you accomplish or what you own. It’s about being proud of the person you’re becoming and finding fulfillment in the life you’re creating.
At the end of the day, I don’t want to look back and wonder what could have happened if I’d been brave enough to try.
I want to know that I gave myself the opportunity to find out.
