Hidden Gems: Meet Patrick Price of The 30A Barista

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Price.

Hi Patrick, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. I grew up in a big family of five siblings. Ever since I was a teenager, I always loved working for myself. My first job was being a private soccer coach for middle school kids. Ever since then, I knew I wanted to own my own business. My teenage years and even into my early 20’s, I worked in the coffee industry – working all the way from a barista job up to owning my own coffee shop. Two years ago, after some prayer, God gave me the idea for this business, and it has been an amazing journey ever since!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not, haha. We have had so much favor and growth quickly in this business, but it has not always been like that. There were a lot of hard years prior to this. People may view other people’s success as an “overnight success” story… however, those people may not know that the “overnight” portion lasted many years. To get to where I am today, I have had so many setbacks, low points, and frustrations. The best thing to remember in the hard times is that if something is bad in the current moment, it will be equally as great in the future.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are the first & only Personal Barista Experience in the whole country. When booked, we show up right in your kitchen and prepare you and your group your favorite coffee beverages, along with a fresh-baked pastry spread. Essentially, we bring an entire coffee shop into your kitchen for you to enjoy while you relax.

We serves all types of events, from morning-of weddings while you get ready, to weddings themselves, bachelorette parties, birthdays, vacations, and more! We can serve anywhere from 2-200 guest for all types of gatherings.

We are also very proud to have our own line of coffee beans – The IRIE Blend (named after the founder’s daughter). We source the beans straight from small farms in South America and roast them locally. Your coffee will always be the highest quality and have the upmost freshness when you enjoy one of our beverages.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Really take the time to learn business itself, including marketing, sales, people, operations, etc.
Just because you can do a task, skill, or job really well, does not mean that you will be able to run a business off of that very well. There is so much more involved in a business than just a specific skill.

Another thing I would say is IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE PERFECT – JUST START! Give away lots of your product or services for free, just to get your name out there and hear honest feedback. Word of mouth and getting your business out there in your community is going to be huge for beginning growth.

And lastly… pray. Amazing things happen when you let God into your business 🙂
