Today we’d like to introduce you to Robin Compton.
Hi Robin, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve spent the better part of 2 decades helping to build and grow a couple of different companies. In each case, they were roughly $6MM companies when I arrived and close to $30MM when I left, and in each case, I realized that my goals needed to align with those of someone who wants to be the biggest in the region. I chose to venture out on my own to build a small, principled business with a simple mission of providing superior quality and experience for my customers while providing an exceptional culture and working environment for my employees.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
So far, the journey has been relatively smooth. However, transitioning from sales management to ownership has presented its fair challenges. I’ve realized that running a business is more than driving sales. It’s about creating a culture, a mission, and a vision. My wife and I have been learning as we go, and at every turn, we’ve been blessed by the Lord. The decision to start our company was one we made through much prayer and by seeking His will for our lives. I firmly believe He equips us for this journey because He called us to it.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Red Letter experience is all about our customers. Every project, whether a complete roof replacement or a simple gutter repair, is essential to us. We offer the same exceptional service, meticulous clean-up, and seamless communication throughout. We understand that communication is often a challenge in our industry, and we are committed to making it one of our greatest strengths. One of the most rewarding parts of every roof install is picking out a Bible verse with our customers. On the installation day, we place the verse the customer chose under the shingles as a permanent monument or blessing over the home.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
People I meet are often shocked to know that before I fully surrendered my life to Jesus, I was a severely overweight, pack-a-day smoker with a drinking problem.
