Hidden Gems: Meet Ryan Parr of Nashville Painting Professionals

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Parr.

Hi Ryan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
After graduating from the University of North Carolina-Charlotte in 2019, I began working for Sherwin Williams in the product finishes division. In this position, I sold products to large manufacturing plants throughout Tennessee with the goal of increasing the company’s sales.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, my sales position was downsized, and I transfer to the consumer brands division of Sherwin Williams.

During this time, I worked with many paint contractors, general contractors, and property management companies. After ten months of gaining valuable insight and knowledge about the professional painting industry, I decided to start my own venture, Tennessee Painting Professionals, which has now become Nashville Painting Professionals.

The Nashville area has a very large market of painting companies and I knew differentiating ourselves from the others would make us competitive.

At Nashville Painting Professionals, we guarantee excellent communication with our customers, proper planning and preparation prior to beginning a job, and teamwork to complete our projects with excellent customer satisfaction in a timely manner.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As young business owners, we have had many bumps in the road, especially starting this business at the heart of the pandemic.

Building connections, finding hardworking employees, and learning to build a successful business during the pandemic were very difficult. These obstacles helped us to create a strong business through very hard work.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Nashville Painting Professionals?
Nashville Painting Professionals strives to exceed all customer expectations.

We specialize in both residential and commercial painting jobs, from small to large-scale projects, interior and exterior painting, drywall repair, wood staining, and more. As a business owner, I am most proud of how my team has worked to help me scale the business exponentially over the past two years.

We started out as a 4-member team and have grown to a total of 20 employees currently. This has all been possible due to the support from my parents, grandparents, uncles, and friends.

So maybe we end by discussing what matters most to you and why?
As a business owner, I want every employee to feel their role is an integral part of the company and that they are valued. If my team members do not feel valued, our business is greatly impacted.

Three of my employees have been extremely valuable since the start: Sarah Baker, our marketing director for both Nashville Painting Professionals and Charlotte Painting Professionals, my newest business venture in Charlotte, North Carolina. Sarah and I attended UNC-Charlotte together and upon graduation, she helped me grow my vision into a career.

Two other valuable members are Eduardo and Jasmin Sanchez. Jasmin and Eduardo started out on their own as a 4-man crew and their hard work has helped me grow this business exponentially in a short amount of time. They have taught me about the painting business and how to manage an up-and-coming business.
