Sam & Luke, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Walker Brothers is a craft kombucha brewery based in Nashville, Tennessee, that has been thoughtfully brewing non-alcoholic and high gravity kombucha since 2018. By focusing on blending wellness with community, we embrace a collaborative spirit and prioritize social responsibility through a commitment to treating customers, employees, partners, and the planet with care and respect. All of our kombuchas starts with our house yeast and bacteria culture: our Family Culture. Our brews are open-fermented, unpasteurized, and made with organic ingredients. These traditional brewing practices provide a more sustainable approach to production and lend to light, refreshing, probiotic-filled beverages with nuanced and crisp flavor profiles.
We started the company with a SCOBY inherited from our aunt and a desire to develop a better-for-you craft beverage that creates space for moments of connection while also being conducive to a healthy lifestyle. We began experimenting with home-brew kombucha using that SCOBY, and eventually landed on the recipe and flavor combinations you see in the brand today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not by any means been a smooth road, granted it has been a blessed road with a lot of gifts, grace, and some luck along the way. Getting a small business off the ground right when the pandemic hit was a daunting feat. We had committed so much time, energy, and capital to the concept, recipes, equipment, branding, marketing, etc. that there was no option or desire to turn back. Most of our opportunities to grow our business outside of TN in different markets were completely frozen, so we leaned into all of the local relationships we had; our distributors, retailers, customers, community and luckily were thoroughly supported and embraced by them, which helped not only to carry us through but to grow our business significantly throughout this pandemic chapter…Nashville truly is “A Family Culture.”

All Walker Brothers products are vegan, gluten-free, and rich in probiotics. We are committed to sourcing the highest quality ingredients—such as Peruvian ginger, Yosemite Valley watermelon, and more—that are showcased in their simplicity to let the underlying flavors of the kombucha shine. In addition to rotating seasonal offerings, non-alcoholic flavors are Blueberry Jasmine, Citrus, Cucumber Melon, and Ginger, while high gravity (5% ABV) flavors include Citra Hops, Ginger, and Watermelon Lime. We’re currently available in Middle and East Tennessee, North Carolina, New York City, Philadelphia, and soon we’ll be launching our product in Georgia.
