Today we’d like to introduce you to Terri Davis McCall.
Hi Terri, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
July 1, 2016, 11 days after our 7th wedding anniversary, my former husband, who I call “wasband,” left our home and moved to GA to be with the woman he’d been in an affair with. He left the life we had together and the church he was pastoring in Columbia, TN.
This life-changing experience was not easy. I had to adjust to a new life quickly in addition to facing the fact that my marriage was over. Fast forward, I began counseling to work through my life issues, which was very helpful. I had so much love and support from my family and friends, and not to mention my faith in God brought me to a place of healing.
In May 2019, I was having brunch with a childhood friend who was having some marital challenges, I received a revelation from God to launch a women’s group. I prayed about how to move forward and the name The Wife’s Circle came to me. I began to write out a plan of how I wanted to be a help to women. There are so many women’s groups and ministries, I was unsure of how I could reach the masses, but God told me, this ministry is for women who are married, separated, and divorced; however, the twist is my target audience is women who currently or at one time served with their husbands’ in ministry.
I wanted to change my memory of July, thus I officially launched The Wife’s Circle on July 2, 2019!! This has been an incredible journey. So who are we and what do we do? The Wife’s Circle is a ministry that support and encourage women who are married, separated, or divorced and who are (or have) working with their husband in ministry. This is not like any ordinary women’s ministry, we aim to provide tools and resources for women to have a healthier whole life. We offer coaching, and mentoring, and host yearly retreats, brunches, and empowerment conferences.
We desire to connect our followers to mental health, financial, women’s health organizations, and more to live a healthy holistic life. It has been a wonderful pleasure hearing stories of redemption and hope from women throughout middle TN and other parts of the United States. We desire to see women love God and life and be free from trauma through the support and love of The Wife’s Circle.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Oh yes, there have been some struggles along the way such as some people questioning my purpose of bringing women together, individuals who claim to be my friend never making an effort to support or attend any of the events I’ve hosted, and feeling defeated when I plan an event and people do not come become I’m not a popular name in the African American church community.
However, I understand those challenges will come but I am determined to keep going forward because The Wife’s Circle is not just for African American women, it is for women of all races.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Wife’s Circle. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Wife’s Circle is a Christian organization that supports and encourages women who are married, separated, or divorced; however, the twist is these ladies have worked with their husbands (or former husbands) in some capacity of ministry.
We provide coaching, mentoring, workshops, conferences, and speaking engagements to empower women who need support in the areas of their Christian experience, life, marriage, career, and all-around sisterhood.
The Wife’s Circle is set apart from others because most organizations like this do not focus on the whole of women. We address every area of life: spiritual, mental, financial, social, etc. The total woman matters to us.
Brand-wise, we are proud to embrace the three stages of relationships: marriage, separation, and divorce. We want readers to know that we want to network and connect with other like-minded ministries to share the love of Jesus, and want to help others to become whole and free from the bondage of life’s trauma.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Ohhh my, the risk-taking I have and continue to do is to be transparent about my life.
There are some things I share publicly; however, there are times when I’m speaking to someone one-on-one and I share those private intimate things about my life. I have gotten to the place where I am not embarrassed about what I have experienced, from sexual abuse as a child to insecurities as a young adult.
