Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Kelley.
Wendy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a unicorn! Born and raised here in Nashville and I love this city! I am also unique in that I have really only had 2 “grown-up” jobs in my 30-year career. Back when I was trying to decide what to do with my life, my very wise mother told me – Get an Accounting Degree – it’s a marketable degree and you will always be able to find a job!
Well, she was right! I did just that and I received my BS in Accounting from David Lipscomb University way back in 1989! While I do love working with numbers, I was NOT your typical CPA-type person, and working in a cubicle my entire career didn’t sit well with me.
Luckily, as Mom said, a good background in accounting can take you anywhere you want to go and it landed me in healthcare. So, my entire career was spent managing outpatient surgery centers for 2 major companies and I loved every minute of it!
You may be wondering, why I decided to make a change – especially at this stage of the game. I guess I was just ready for something new and different. As a kid, my family moved every two years. I like to say that my parents flipped houses before it was a “thing!” They would buy a house, fix it up, sell it and do it all over again.
It gave me lots of exposure to how that process worked and I really loved getting to move to different neighborhoods all over Nashville and make new friends. All of that came back to me when I was contemplating a career change and real estate just seemed right. I love helping people find their next home just as much as I enjoyed it as a kid and as I have as an adult.
So, in the Spring of 2022 after much thought and planning, I stepped away from the safety and security of my full-time job to pursue my dream of being a full-time Real Estate Agent! This move has brought me so much joy! I have more time to be fully present with my family while allowing me to do what I love – be out in the community networking and helping people!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No path is ever smooth!
Leaving a guaranteed paycheck to being self-employed is scary and nerve-wracking, to say the least!
But I have a deep faith that this is where I am supposed to be right now and I am blessed beyond measure to have a wonderful support system to keep me encouraged as I make my way down this road.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Wendy Kelley, Realtor®?
I am a full-time residential Realtor® with eXp Realty. I am here to help families whether they are buying or selling a home, moving to or from Nashville, downsizing, or rightsizing.
I think one thing that sets me apart is that I am a Nashville Native and that I am farther along in life – so I have lots of “street smarts”. When I decided to pursue this career, I knew I had to do it full-time. I wanted to provide my clients with excellent customer service and give them my all, I knew that would not be possible if I was still on someone else’s time clock.
If I was a buyer or seller, I would want my agent to be available to me when I needed them and that is what I give my clients! I also have a large network of connections for my clients. When someone is moving, there are lots of other services they need and I can connect them to other professionals that I know and trust.
My brand is my name – Wendy Kelley – and I take great pride in that!
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I am always looking to connect with people and continue to build the network of connections that any homeowner would need. That means anyone from handymen, plumbers, security systems, roofers, etc.
My business is primarily built on referrals, so the best way to support me is to share my contact information with your friends or family that you know are in the market to buy or sell a home.
One last fun fact about me… I am also a WSET Level 2 Sommelier and I love wine! I even market Clean Crafted Scout & Cellar wine as a fun professional hobby. Wine tastings are my jam!
I find that networking and connecting can be even more fun when sharing a tasty glass of wine!
