Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Charles.
Aaron, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out as a freelance makeup artist in Florida. Through the encouragement of a friend that recognized my talents, he convinced me to move to New York where he was living. I worked in NY fashion week, and that is when I knew exactly what I was meant to do. There I met another artist by the name of Rodney Jon. He was instrumental in building my confidence in makeup artistry and in the industry as a whole. I honestly believe that working in New York helped me see that makeup was more than art, it was a business. I was intrigued. Like any journey in life, it is filled with twists and turns. Mine was no exception. I received devastating news from my mother that she had breast cancer. Like most sons, I was afraid and understood that no matter the outcome, I needed to put my dreams aside to take care of my family. I was the oldest of five children (4 boys and 1 girl). The youngest two (1 boy 1 girl) are twins and we’re in elementary school at that time. My other two brothers were college age. So, at 25 I left New York and returned home to Arkansas.
After multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation my mother progressed and entered remission. Through her recovery, I created a brand that would help women feel beautiful, not only in the happiest times but when they were at their absolute worst. That mission took off and helped me create multiple salon and spas and my very own cosmetic line. I even became a partner of the largest hotel chain and designed and constructed a day spa!
Over those years, I kept my mission at the forefront, and my success grew. I continued to work in the philanthropic community, specifically in cancer research. It was more than a passion, it was a reality for me and my family. This caught the attention of the largest statewide publication, and they featured me on its cover to give me a platform to discuss my connection to a cancer organization and my mission. It was a dream come true.
After a decade of nonstop business growth and demanding schedules- my mental health suffered greatly. I realized that I had to find a balance in my life and decided it was time to move on to the next phase in my life. Peace. That journey began just as our nation was being hit with the Covid 19 pandemic. With lockdowns, riots, and mayhem in our streets- believe it or not I was able to focus on building a better relationship with myself. And thankfully, I did. That’s when I got an idea that coaching business owners virtually would allow me to help guide others professionally, maintain my new sense of peace, sustain my lifestyle, and steer clear of the crazies. It was the winning formula.
One day, while I was working with a client- a name that I had not seen in years popped up on my Instagram. It was Rodney Jon- the makeup artist instrumental in my early artistry development. We reconnected and caught up on over a decade of changes that we both had gone through personally and professionally. Now after 13 years of first meeting him, I am his manager! Talk about a full-circle moment.
So now, I have built AC Communications which represents talent and helps build successful brands. Our team designs and manages social media and websites. We create logos and assist in product development. We are passionate about amplifying our client’s voices through their branding. That’s why our slogan is, “Bring your talent.
We will provide the rest.”
This year, I have had the opportunity to be involved in some historic projects with many recognizable brands and artists. I am so grateful for the journey I am on and hope that you will follow along.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?

I think what sets us apart is that each of us have a unique perspective and have had many successes throughout our individual careers, but because we share similar journeys of finding peace in our lives- we work together harmoniously. I think that’s because we truly understand our strengths and weaknesses. This allows us to work more strategically for our clients. I think that I am most proud brand l wise of the level of talent that I have on my team. I want your readers to know that our brand is not transactional- it’s about truly understanding and building a strong relationship that we can grow together. That’s why our services are so important because it allows us to tell our client’s story in many different ways.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The pandemic has taught me that life is short- and just when you think you have it figured out, you don’t. It also taught me more about the digital world. I literally had never been on zoom until the Covid-19, now we are besties! Also, it’s taught me to take better care of myself. I cook every night and workout 5 days a week. You have to understand that’s huge for me because I literally ate out for every meal. Lastly, it’s taught me to save. You never know what might happen if the world shuts down again. Always be prepared.
