Inspiring Conversations with Abby Hunt of Just Go With It

Today we’d like to introduce you to Abby Hunt.

Hi Abby, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
When my best friend Ashley and I graduated from Pepperdine in 2020, the job market was grim, to say the least.

It was the height of the pandemic and we were feeling lost and in need of community, as most recent graduates experience. We also needed something to pour our creative energy and skills into, and both being PR majors who love to talk, starting a podcast about life post-grad seemed like a no-brainer.

After deciding on an overarching theme and going back-and-forth on a show title for what seemed like forever, Just Go With It was born in September of 2020 and we haven’t looked back since.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
We knew exactly nothing about podcasting when we started. We researched which platforms to use to record and edit the audio, where to buy microphones, the best places to record for sound quality, and asked everyone we knew who listened to podcasts what they thought made their favorite shows worth listening to.

Since we are such good friends, the banter came naturally, but what was challenging at first was getting comfortable staying in some form of “outline” to keep the content moving forward in an interesting way that listeners could follow. The next hurdle was getting comfortable hearing our voices on the recording and not hating it! HA!

Once we started having guests on, we were hooked. We love interviewing people from different walks of life all over the country (and even abroad)! The more we did it, the more comfortable and fluid it became. Marketing the podcast is always a challenge, but we’ve grown quite a bit organically over the past year and a half and are looking forward to continuing with that momentum!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Our content is centered around “life in your twenties” where we cover everything from dating, to careers, to moving to new cities and making friends, how to form healthy habits, and more.

We are proud of the online community we are cultivating of other 20-somethings who are going through the same trials we are, and who seek comfort in the idea that we’re all in this together and not everyone has everything figured out.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
Our favorite professor at Pepperdine, Klive Oh, inspired us to follow our instincts and believe in our skills to bring motivation and humor to our audience, even in a time that seemed dark for so many.

Our best friends were our biggest cheerleaders from the start, and where even some of our first guests!

My parents so graciously gave up their walk-in closet for me to turn into a makeshift studio because the sound quality was better in there, so really I couldn’t have done it without them either.
