Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexis (lex) Larocca

Hi Alexis (Lex), we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been piercing professionally for almost 7 years. I originally started in the body modification industry as a tattoo artist, but after a few years I was just creatively burnt out. My piercer friend was opening his studio in New Orleans and I started working for him as counter help. After a few months of me working behind the counter, the piercers took notice of my interest in watching the procedures being done with all of the pretty jewelry and asked if I would be interested in learning to pierce. Of course I jumped at the chance and that’s what I’ve been doing ever since! I truly love getting to adorn my clients with gorgeous pieces that bring a little more of their personality to light.
I moved to Tennessee in 2020 during the height of covid to run another studio Downtown and after a few years running that space, and my house burning down last year (August 12 Glass Creek Apartment fire in Mount Juliet), I took the opportunity to use my insurance money to open my own gorgeous piercing only studio in December of 2023.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part it has been pretty smooth sailing since I’ve opened. I’ve had a few years of experience running a studio by myself before opening my own, so that was a blessing to already know what to expect. I’d say the roughest bump in the road was the bump that made the studio possible. But coming from that situation I turned a huge loss into something beautiful for myself and my clients.

We’ve been impressed with Aurelia Adornments, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Aurelia Adornments is an upscale piercing only studio in East Nashville. We do body piercings and stock gorgeous 14k and 18k gold pieces as well as a few select implant grade titanium pieces for your initial piercing. We use high quality materials and sterile single-use tools to ensure the best possible healing process.
What sets us apart from others is the experience. From the time you step foot in the door it’s a comfortable, calm, and positive experience. I like to make sure to make every piercing a pleasant experience and have a good time with my clients in the short time they are in my studio. I try to ease any nerves and talk every client through the entire process from the moment they sit down in the chair.
What I am most proud of brand wise, is the selection of jewelry and services I offer.

We are primarily appointment based since Lex runs the studio solo. We offer piercings from ages 3 months and up (yes we pierce baby and kid’s lobes!) Any piercing on a minor is by appointment only, but adults we can sometimes accept walk ins around our pre-booked appointments.

I also stock some traditional jewelry like solid gold necklaces and bracelets

Our piercing jewelry is solid 14 or 18 karat gold, in yellow, white, or rose gold. We have options that are just plain solid gold with no gemstones, as well as options with CZ as well as options with genuine stones.
