Inspiring Conversations with Alisha Lark of Sweet’s Treats

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alisha Lark.

Hi Alisha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up in a low-income housing development, my friends and I longed for the days when the ice cream truck would come through the neighborhood drive. We would run home to get money from our parents to buy a treat. Sometimes our parents couldn’t afford to give us $1 to purchase items from the truck.

Over the years, I noticed the negative outlook communities had formed about ice cream trucks. My job is to bring back the safety and comfort that sweets provided to the community when I was a child. There was such a comfort that the ice cream truck brought. My aim is to recreate those memories for today’s community.

I started my business last year during the pandemic. I believe it was the best time for me to put my plan into action. I couldn’t work and realized creating a second source of income would be imperative to providing for my family.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
