Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Sweeney-jones
Hi Amanda, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Obsessed much- as I am, with design, architecture, and real estate and I realized I was wanting to learn and grow professionally.
So I decided to get my real estate license in 2020, and it was a perfect fit. Now could I tie all of my past experience with interior design and construction, and use it to grow my million dollar real estate business. Wow! What a difference that has made! I can understand more than the average realtor because I have been a project manager on builds-knowing your product (houses) from the ground up literally. I have always loved people and they open up to me freely, maybe because I am willing to listen and share also.
Before you go around thinking something is a negative about yourself, see if it might be a positive. What if the one thing you thought was a little weird about you- was your biggest superpower? I used to think there was something wrong with me, that when I met people they would tell me their whole life story, sometimes crying, people get real emotional with me and say I never tell anyone this but I just felt comfortable telling you. I am happy to have this superpower and it’s called being the trusted advisor. Some people have the ability to build trust pretty much immediately. I don’t just talk, to talk, but when I have something to say, I just say it and I don’t make any bones about it and I speak up and it has been a blessing in my career. I don’t speak up unless I know it’s right, and I don’t get involved unless I know I can help. Which allows people to listen, because when I have something to say- they think okay she must mean business, because she doesn’t just fill dead air.
So just being authentic, honest, genuine, and being vulnerable has been what sets me apart. I don’t just tell people what they want to hear, I speak the truth. If your house smells funny- I will tell you, because it will be helping you, never my intention to hurt anyone, just honesty.
I want people to know that I have a passion for people first and foremost then real estate, when I get a listing or a buyer under contract I will work tirelessly to get your home sold and or find you a new property, it’s my mission and I can’t rest until it is completed.
I don’t just work with traditional buyers or sellers, I work with trusts and 1031 exchanges also. Not just selling Tennessee, selling the dream of homeownership, which is definitely changing lives, and I am grateful to help with that. I enjoy seeing my clients build generational wealth through real estate, I have seen lives changed time and time again, which is the ultimate reward.
Being involved in the community is also very important to me, I have found my tribe and home at The Woman’s Club in Murfreesboro,TN celebrating 107 years- as the legacy continues, they are an amazing non-profit, that I am so happy and proud to be the second Vice President. Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have had many challenges since my time in Nashville in 2005. In my experience, nothing worth having comes easy. I faced, along with everyone else, the Covid struggle. Only two months after I got my real estate license-the pandemic hit. I was determined to not let a pandemic stop my success. I was considered an essential employee, so I stayed plugging and selling along. I myself believe mindset has everything to do with how we see ourselves and even how others see us. So staying in an attitude of gratitude is key for me. You can be your biggest obstacle! You must believe in yourself and your abilities and know you are an asset-know your worth.
The biggest challenge for me-is the world will try to hold you back and keep you in a box, don’t listen. This quote helps remind me to keep the negativity far away from me, so I wanted to share it with you.
“If people are doubting how far you can go, go so far that you can’t hear them anymore.” – Miechele Ruiz
We’ve been impressed with EXIT Realty Amanda Sweeney-Jones Realtor, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What sets me apart from other realtors? I’m proud to be still standing strong, over 85% of realtors fail in their 1st year in business. I’m going on my 4th year now. I am all about people- helping them achieve what they want and need- in return I end up getting my goals accomplished and then some.
I’m a published author- “Thrive as a New Realtor” which has been a labor of love but I want to share my knowledge with others- I really do want to help people and I do. I have started a video school for business owners wanting to make videos for their business, that has been so fun and rewarding. We meet once a month in person, and I also stream it on ZOOM for all of my friends who live out of town. No, building a real estate business is not easy- it is extremely difficult. I overcame the challenges by stepping out of the box and didn’t say what I thought others wanted to hear- I say what I want to say. I never give up. I see it like this, if I win-great, if I lost- I learned- so really there is no losing then. It’s all about mindset if you have that positive down pat then you can achieve anything. Surrounding yourself with the right people is key, I have been building my business but like most people will take anyone if they need help but I am particular with who works with me, the most important quality in require is a positive mindset. I won’t hire negative people or choose to work with them. I don’t just want to sell real estate- I want to help make change and a difference in this world, with one positive act at a time.
Like Steve Harvey says-
“So as long as I wake up, I just look for it, I say okay God what is it today? It might be a challenge, it might be a test or it might be the WIN. But either way, I’m gonna wake up tomorrow, and if I wake up, that’s a good sign that he ain’t threw with me yet.”
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Teamwork makes the dream work as they say and it’s so true.
My ability to mentor and train other realtors to be a great part of my team is a huge honor and without them I would struggle.
I am happy to have this superpower and it’s called being the trusted advisor. Some people have the ability to build trust pretty much immediately. I don’t just talk, to talk, but when I have something to say, I just say it and I don’t make any bones about it and I speak up and it has been a blessing in my career.
