Today we’d like to introduce you to Ander Sevilla

Hi Ander, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Bringing people together has been a great pleasure in my life for as long as I can remember.

At 6 years old I started my first business; I convinced my 1st grade classmates to build duck tape wallets that we could sell to upperclassmen at my elementary school.

Relative to our age, I felt like a Fortune 500 CEO. The feeling of providing my friends an opportunity to earn income while having fun; while only 6 years old, quickly became an addiction.

I went on to start a clothing brand in high school (failed), a fintech company in college (failed), an investment fund towards the end of college (mild success), and finally Blacklight Group after college.

Fast forward 20 years later, I am still and always be that little boy scratching and clawing away in order to provide for my friends and family. Only now I have experience, education, tough lessons learned, access to resources, an incredible team, and a larger appetite than ever.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While being able to say that I’ve been an entrepreneur for 20 years while I am only 25 years old is something I’m incredibly proud of, I am not ashamed to say it has come with tremendous obstacles, stress, headaches, and lessons.

While I could list off hundreds of headaches and struggles that we have faced as an ownership group, A struggle that I feel has bared the most weight on me is the negligence of my personal life.

In the pursuit of greatness, I have neglected many people who were of great value to my life. While it greatly saddens me to know that I was never the best friend, brother, son, boyfriend, or colleague, I have walked away from far too much to not give this everything I have.

It breaks my heart to know that I have let so many people down in my personal life by relentlessly prioritizing building this empire. On paper, I am a great man. One day I hope to be a good one as well.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Blacklight Group Corporation ?
I founded Blacklight Group with my partners because we know as well as anyone how terrible the current marketing industry is.

Common business practice in our industry is disgusting. Our competitors force barely afloat clients into annual binding contracts which they can’t afford once their marketing services don’t work, they use outdated strategies which yield little to no results, they have an abundance of unnecessary infrastructure which leads to a direct correlation between overhead & service cost, and they have a complete negligence of modern technology & AI integration.

We pride ourselves in being transparent, technologically advanced, accountable, and most importantly, exponentially performing.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Calculated risk taking has perhaps been the greatest catalyst for growth at my firm.

I walked away from a full ride to Law School in order to pursue building my own empire.

My partners have also walked away from countless opportunities in order to see this through.

I see risk & obstacles as opportunity. I like to think of it as “weeding out weak competitors”. I know for a fact we are willing to travel across more uncharted waters than our competitors. This will ultimately allow us to see growth & expansion not seen before.
