Inspiring Conversations with Bailey Padgett of Knotted Tots CFT

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bailey Padgett.

Hi Bailey, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
As I became a mother and my children grew, I longed to be able to help them with all of the bumps and bruises and illnesses they sustained along the way. I was familiar with taking them to the chiropractor for these instances, but I wondered if there was some way I could provide healing with my own hands. A friend told me about the Gillespie Method or Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT) and that there were trainings held around the country to learn. I had no idea what I was getting in to, but on the first day I was amazed at the gentleness and effectiveness of this approach and its seemingly endless potential to heal the body of problems caused by fascial strain and tension patterns. There appeared to be a large demand for CFT in the Nashville area so after seeing the benefits in my own family, I decided to offer these services to others. Through a great relationship with a wonderful local chiropractor, I set up my space in Goodlettsville and as word got out, I began receiving referrals from lactation consultants, chiropractors, holistic physicians and others. I have now been honored to truly transform the lives of hundreds of babies, children, and adults by releasing their fascial strain so they can be loose, free, and able to enjoy life to its fullest.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The biggest obstacle has been the “buy in” and convincing people not to wait on therapy. Most people who make an appointment have never heard of CFT and are skeptical. When a postpartum mom calls me with a baby who is constantly uncomfortable or struggling to feed well, I want to see that baby as quickly as possible, but the referral for CFT may be the third or fourth modality they’ve tried in hopes to find a treatment that will finally help. They may not be calling me until they’ve been experiencing difficulty for weeks or months. If there’s one thing I want to emphasize, it is make the appointment! Moms are amazed to feel huge differences in their babies within the span of a 30min session. Many times they have never seen their baby so relaxed. School aged children are my most excited patients. They are reluctant for their first session but by the time they come back, they hop on the table right away! Adults who come to see me also remark that they had no idea what to expect, but they feel better than they’ve felt in years after a session. I am so passionate about CFT for every single person. The more people who know about CFT and seek it out the better! I have seen people with debilitating conditions have new hope and optimism about their lives and moms see their children be the happy and content children they knew them to be all along. All from something more gentle than a massage and more effective than countless surgeries that have been prevented by CFT.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a practitioner of Gillespie Method craniosacral fascial therapy (CFT). My business goes by Knotted Tots CFT. I see clients at New Life Health and Wellness in Goodlettsville, TN and I also do home visits and NICU visits in Nashville and surrounding areas. I see the whole family, from age 0 to 99. The youngest baby I’ve provided therapy to (besides my own) was only 6 hours old! I believe my holistic approach, background as a public health trained clinical pharmacist, and experience as a mother of 5, combines to give me a unique perspective for my clients. At this point in my practice, I see babies the most and provide the very necessary component of bodywork for babies pre or post tongue tie release or babies with feeding issues who are trying to avoid having a tongue tie revision. I also see a fair amount of children and adults going through oral myofunctional therapy and palatal expansion or other orthodontics. Though these tend to be who I see most frequently, CFT at its foundation is rooted in nervous system regulation and does wonders for many children and adults who are feeling dysregulated whether from daily life or trauma.

What does success mean to you?
Success is when you show up every day to serve those around you to the best of your abilities. Whether that is showing up as the best parent, teacher, or practitioner, we owe it to ourselves and those around us to give 110% each time.
