Inspiring Conversations with Candice Storley of Prism Strength Coaching

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candice Storley.

Candice Storley

Hi Candice, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Currently, I am a strength and nutrition coach. The trajectory of me becoming a coach and wellness professional is a wild story…

My passion for physical activity and movement began very early in my life. I grew up swimming competitively, playing volleyball, snowboarding, running hurdles in high school and waterskiing like it was the air I needed to breathe. I think I always enjoyed the empowering feeling that comes from doing fun, adrenaline inducing activities. This led me to pursue an athletic career for most of my childhood. I spent every waking moment I could at the lake swivel skiing, barefoot skiing, building human pyramids and performing with my show ski team.

After high school, I got an offer to waterski professionally and I pounced at the opportunity. I spent every moment I could on the lake training, practicing and performing. The cool thing about the ski show I worked on was that half of it was a waterski show and half of it was an acrobatic style circus show. Long story short, I made friends with the circus performers, had so much fun learning and playing on different trapeze apparatuses, so I decided to pursue a career in circus performing as an aerialist (someone who performs on pretty much any apparatus that hangs).

I spent the next six years traveling all over the country in a 5th wheel trailer performing in tents, arenas, and theaters, riding elephants, walking camels and really living out the epitome of “running away with the circus”.

I never really thought about being a coach if I’m being honest, “coaching” had just always been a part of my life because of my profession. However, I valued how I was able to grow and progress as an athlete and how my body transformed to become stronger and leaner with everything I was doing. That being said, I learned very quickly that the lifestyle I was living needed a shift. It wasn’t sustainable for my longterm health. I found it very difficult to balance pushing myself to the extremes while also taking care of myself. That became the catalyst to me taking a deep dive into strength training, nutrition and really gathering an understanding of the processes of change for longevity.

I made it my mission to truly understand and share with others how to simplify holistic health, how to get stronger, and ultimately, how to thrive within a life and body that we actually love. That was the basis of me founding “Prism Strength” a holistic coaching service that combines strength, nutrition & lifestyle coaching for long-term, sustainable transformation.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I heard somewhere once that starting a business is like deep therapy work and I couldn’t agree more, HA. There is so much personal growth and self-discovery that is required of you to build an intentional business. It can be extremely frustrating, isolating and honestly terrifying on a lot of fronts. When you start a business you’re vulnerable, emotionally, financially, and physically sometimes. But on the flip side, being able to build something from the ground up, executing on a vision that you have and are passionate about, is extremely rewarding. In my experience, the pure joy that my clients get to feel when they accomplish something they didn’t think they could do, truly outweighs any inconvenience or struggle that I experience as a business owner. I had to learn how to be OK with feeling like I always have “so much more to learn”. I also had to learn how to step out of my own way and take messy action time and time again.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Prism Strength Coaching?
The mission of Prism Strength, my coaching business, is simple: help women get seriously consistent with their wellness habits so they can tap into their highest potential. Without restriction, gimmicks or handholding, I help women go from feeling average…to feeling empowered, strong and full of confidence. We use strength training, nutrition and lifestyle coaching as the tools for massive internal and external transformation.

It’s my belief that you reflect what you absorb (like a prism). At Prism Strength, it’s important to me to change the quality of what you absorb (in regards to strength, nutrition and wellness). That’s why I’m committed to helping women build and sustain a holistic lifestyle. Together, we curate a plan tailored to your goals, for the last time—so you can transform inside and out.

The cool thing about Prism Strength is that you don’t have to be local. As much as I love in person sessions with clients, I understand how full life is for each of us and I want you to feel confident strength training and eating well with or without me there. I provide the resources and education as well as the feedback and support, so you can confidently make the changes you have been dreaming of for years.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I would love for readers to know that the ideal version of yourself that you hope for doesn’t have to be a pipe dream. You just need the right support, plan and accountability to see your vision through. It would be an honor to support you on your wellness journey. In all my years, I’ve learned that not much else feels better than being the strongest, most vibrant versions of ourselves!
