Today we’d like to introduce you to Chase Grijalva

Hi Chase, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up in West Texas, I cherished the warm days spent enjoying shaved ice with friends and family. This nostalgia inspired me to share that experience with others. While being an oncology nurse at St.Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Vanderbilt University, I traveled to various states and even internationally, tasting different flavors, learning about the culture of shaved ice, and discovering innovative ways to transform this classic treat into a gourmet treat for all to enjoy!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When I first opened our first location, I started with minimal equipment and would sell out of ice blocks for shaved ice! Eventually, we were able to upgrade the equipment to meet the demand. Our local community of Nashville has been extremely supportive and has helped us grow quickly! We have done a music video with Dierks Bentley, and we have served many music artists like Jack White from the White Stripes, Kelly Clarkson, and some American Idol Contestants.

At Cotton & Snow, we believe that every bowl of our delicious shaved ice tells a story. Our journey began with a simple love for summer treats and a desire to bring joy to our community. What started as a dream to create the perfect summertime dessert has transformed into a beloved local institution year-round. Our mission is to use high-quality ingredients, offering a wide variety of flavors that cater to every palate—from timeless favorites like tiger’s blood and blue raspberry to unique concoctions inspired by local ingredients and trends (including Boozy Options!). We strive to provide the best customer service to all of our guests with a smile.

What were you like growing up?
Being the oldest of my other two siblings, I had more responsibility than most by helping my Mom with my brothers as a single parent. I have always wanted to do my best in everything I did to help my family.
