Hi Cole, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
The story begins in 2018 with the founding of Dama Distributing at a time when many were getting out of the hemp and bioplastic space. My name is Cole Gibbs, and I have been working and building with my hands my entire career. I would define myself as an innovative entrepreneur. I have been pioneering the development of sustainable hemp plastic and compliant packaging solutions for various industries. I saw an opportunity to continue working and building towards something that would make a local, national, and eventual global positive impact on the plastic waste crisis we are currently facing. With only nine percent of all plastic recycled worldwide, and the plastic waste problem growing out of control in all industries, I have established a practical and sustainable strategy for business and industry using the power of hemp and other green technologies. Newly enacted local legislation in the state of Colorado and upcoming federal regulation surrounding the use of legacy plastic products have increased interest in Dama Distributing in an astronomical manner. The shift in public opinion away from traditional plastic waste, combined with the move towards more sustainable options for businesses, means the future for Dama Distributing is looking brighter than ever. The entire mission and vision of Dama Distributing can be summed up in this one line: “Together, we can end plastic pollution.”

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
Not at all, anytime someone tries to innovate and disrupt legacy business models and the “ways things have always been done,” there are natural and artificial roadblocks you come across at various points in the journey from materials to manufacturing and production, to just getting people to see the importance of what we are doing. It has been a struggle. Well worth it, but still a struggle.

Creating an industry-first circular economy operating on a closed-loop supply chain.
