Today we’d like to introduce you to Dani Felt.
Hi Dani, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started as a singer-songwriter since I was 14. I then launched a music blog in college that got over 300 interviews. I then published a book with a previous business partner that featured over 100 of those interviews into a book along with our stories. We then started doing events and artist development. A few years later, we both went separate ways and started our own new companies. My first company was called Creative Spotlights which was the blog/ artist development company. The second company which I currently run is Music Industry Mastery LLC a music consulting agency. While running this as an artist development coach, I also write and record my own music. 🙂
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It has been quite an adventure! I would say one of the biggest challenges was having to break a partnership with my previous business partner and having to give up the work I co-created for over five years. Having to start over was tough but it made me stronger. I would say other challenges would be dealing with difficult clients or people trying to take advantage of my team. Also having to let go of partnerships with team members who just were not up to par for my clients. Communicating and getting on the same page as people in general can be difficult and challenging!
As you know, we’re big fans of Music Industry Mastery LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Music Industry Mastery LLC is a music consulting agency. We are on one stop shop for unsigned artists. I connect artists to my professional team members including content creators, marketers and promoters. I also do coaching and consulting to help artists with finding a direction and building their brand. I would say what sets me apart is that I specialize in the mindset and helping artists get out of their own way whether it comes to money mindset, lack of confidence, or worthiness or just helping them get clear on what they want. We got several music video awards for a music video we produced for our client Jordan Siwek. I would say that is one of our proudest moments so far. I want them to know we have everyone from producers to videographers to PR people and beyond.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I took a risk investing in a film company to help us film a pilot last December for a new tv show pilot that is currently being edited. I helped cast the pilot, coordinate the team, find the director and beyond. I always believe taking risks is important because you never know until you try. Having a business in general is a risk. If you truly want something, it is always worth taking a risk to get it. You never want to have regret.
