Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Thompson. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Camel Culture was founded by Ryan Fee in 2016 while working in refugee resettlement in Seattle, WA. Ryan heard about camel milk from newly settled refugees and saw that nobody was selling camel milk in the US. After learning about the health benefit of camel milk and the huge demand for this product.
We started sourcing fresh camel milk from local FDA-approved dairy farms in the US. Now, we’re in almost 600 stores nationwide and shipping direct to people’s homes through our website. We’re the largest camel milk company in the USA.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No. Camel milk is very difficult to source because it is so rare and expensive. There are only a few thousand camels in the US compared to about 100 million cows.
It’s also difficult to ship across the country because all-natural milk spoils very easily. We came up with a process to freeze our milk immediately after milking the camel, and shipping it frozen on dry ice to keep the milk fresh.
As you know, we’re big fans of Camel Culture. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m our sales and marketing director at camel culture, and I work alongside our founder and CEO, Ryan Fee, to manage our marketing, website, sales channels, and operations.
Our mission is to give immigrants in the US a “taste of their homeland”. We know camel milk is a valuable part of many cultures from North Africa, East Africa, and the middle east. We want to bring this important product to everyone’s home in the US! So people can enjoy the health benefits and the taste of camel milk.
We talk with people all the time who have not tasted camel milk in years. We love to see people’s faces light up with joy when they taste a piece of their home culture again!
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
We truly love and value our customers. We listen to them and let them guide us. They are the reason we work so hard to bring the highest quality camel milk to the US market.
