Inspiring Conversations with Denise Maclin of Bodied By D

Today we’d like to introduce you to Denise Maclin.

Hi Denise, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It started with my own fitness journey in 2018.

At the time, I was just going with the flow and wanted to lose some unwanted weight. Did I 100% know what I was doing or getting myself into? No. Did I enjoy the process and start to realize I was passionate about fitness? Yes! I remember being so nervous about posting my workout content on my social media. I would post videos and then instantly delete them because to me, they just weren’t perfect enough or I didn’t look the way I wanted to.

About a year in, I built up the courage to post little snippets of my workouts. It wasn’t long before the messages started rolling in from women who were so inspired and it was crazy because I didn’t realize they were on the journey with me, and that’s been the most rewarding part. People kept telling me, “you should be a personal trainer.” “You’re so inspiring, and you’re motivating more people than you even know.”

When the pandemic hit, I felt like it was the perfect time to look into getting certified as a personal trainer. The world was in a bit of chaos and was slowing down so I used that time to speed things up. I wrote “personal trainer certification” at the top of my 2020 vision board, and enrolled in the program on my birthday that year, as a gift to myself. Six months later, I passed the NASM Personal Trainer Certification Exam on the first try!

In 2021, I spent a few months training under a mentor. In January 2022, God said, “bigger”, and Bodied By D was born!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest struggles were taking those leaps to enroll in the program, stepping out on my own, and starting my own business, and just the constant thought of, “what if this doesn’t work out?”

But then I switched those thoughts into, “but what if it does?” That mindset change unlocked everything for me!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Coach.

I specialize in helping women embody their full potential through mindset changes and fitness coaching! I want women to know that they don’t have to be nervous about starting their fitness journeys because I will meet them where they are, whether it’s beginner, intermediate, or advanced level. I am known for being a fitness influencer, and content creator, and helping my clients work towards their fitness goals and see results!

What sets me apart from others is my determination to turn everything I touch into gold. I am creating my own lane and always perfecting my craft and expanding my reach. I am mostly proud to be an entrepreneur of a business that caters to women and I’m proud of all the things I’ve accomplished during year one.

I want readers to know that I am working endlessly to build my brand and make my mark on the fitness industry. I offer in-person training, online personal training, and virtual group training! I’m the perfect trainer for you!

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey has been to trust and enjoy the process. To focus on taking things 1 minute at a time and being 1% better every day!

Make sure I don’t rush or settle, and always stay true to myself and my purpose! I want everything I do, to align with God’s plans for me. That way, I’ll never have to question anything, I’ll just know it’s meant to be!
