Today we’d like to introduce you to Dilsia Alfaro.
Dilsia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my first business in 2013 called B3SOS Boutique which Besos is the correct spelling in Spanish meaning kisses and I used the three as a backward E lol. It was an online store cater to women. I was buying wholesale from stores but I felt like I had much more to offer. I decided to challenge myself and design my own clothing line called Dilsia Alfaro. I was marketing the store along with my clothing line so much on social media that I landed my first fashion show that year. I had to look for models and I put out an ad. I was so excited I had about ten plus models that walked the runway with my designs. We were such a hit because my designs came from my Hispanic culture. They were colorful, floral and so much spice, lol. My girls were all Hispanic models at that time and we caught a lot of attention. I won Best Vendor to being Nominated Best Women Boutique of the year at the Nashville Fashion Week Forward Gala to being in the 10 Most Beautiful People in the Nashville Lifestyle Magazine. I have always been involved in the Nashville community since I was 15 years old by helping and volunteering. In 2015, I decided I wanted to start a nonprofit organization, I came up with an idea where thought to myself why not start a group where we go out every month and volunteer to whoever is in need. I mentioned my idea to my B3sos Boutique models and they loved my idea and wanted to participate!
That year, I started B3sos Model Organization. I wanted to influence young kids that we are not just models we are role models. We grew to 20 plus models from all ethnicities and started to volunteer and help nonprofit organizations throughout middle Tennessee. We were booming! We landed articles in the Tennessean, Hola Newspaper and El Crucero Newspaper. We even got nominated in the Hands on Nashville Mary Catherine Strobel Volunteer Awards! My boutique wasn’t doing so well and my focus started to just be B3SoS Model Organization. In 2016, we started to get inquiries from local business to help them with their marketing needs where they wanted to book a few of us to their event or be in commercials, etc. I saw a demand and thought that this will help my girls by being compensated in doing what they love doing by helping! I decided to change the name of the company to D&Company Promotions, LLC and started to work with well-known businesses and brands in Middle Tennessee. In less than a year, we landed a major contract with a well-known beauty brand and became nationwide. We are now a nationwide promotional staffing company based in Nashville, TN and we have worked with brands like Ecoco Beauty, Melt Cosmetics, Monster Energy Drink, Shoneys, Bomade Vodka and so much more.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been so hard for me especially because I never had the guidance and knowledge. I learned throughout the whole journey and built my company from the ground up. You learn from your mistakes. Another challenge was that I was a Latina business owner. In some cases, I was never taken seriously because of what I was.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a nationwide promotional staffing company based in Nashville, TN. We provide brand ambassadors, promotional models, ring girls, social media influencers, event staffing, entertainment staffing and what sets us apart is we also provide bilingual staffing and so much more! We care about your business as you do! We help with your marketing needs!
Who else deserves credit in your story?
My family has been my biggest supporter. Without them, I would have never become what I am now.
