Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Diallo.
Hi Dominique , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I always say—my path to Aesthetics wasn’t linear, but it was a divinely destined to bring me to where I am so grateful to be today.
I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2021 majoring in Tourism and Hospitality, focused in Event Planning, with a passion for creating unforgettable experiences and making people feel seen. In the midst of the COVID pandemic, I transitioned to get my real estate license since the event market really had stopped offering a lot of hospitality job opportunities. I liked real estate as I still found my passion for helping people to find their forever homes. After a few years of being an agent, I decided to become a corporate girlie working a typical 9-5 office job. I explored a lot of “practical” options but nothing really clicked. I would say I was good at these previous roles—but I never felt very fulfilled. I didn’t feel aligned. I didn’t feel in flow. I wanted to work with people, yes—but I wanted to help them experience real transformation.
That’s when skincare found me—I enrolled into school at the Agape Institute of Esthiology and completely fell in love with the science, the ritual, and the impact that skincare can have—not just physically, but emotionally.
It wasn’t just facials and product recommendations. It was healing. It was corrective. It was so real. And I knew from day one I was here to do skin differently.
In my training program, I worked really hard—assisting, building a clientele, researching skin, refining my own protocols. I studied every angle I could of acne, hyperpigmentation, and age management because I wanted to offer more than the basic, cookie-cutter solutions. I wanted to master the “why” behind what was happening in my clients’ skin—and I wanted to give them real answers.
From there, my vision for Vera Pelle was born.
“Vera Pelle” means real skin in Italian—and that’s exactly what I stand for. No filters. No unrealistic expectations. Just healthy, radiant, honest skin that reflects the work you’ve put in—inside and out. My spa studio is a luxury multicultural and corrective space built around skin correction and transformation, not surface-level results. I specialize in conditions that often go ignored or mistreated by mainstream beauty—especially for deeper skin tones.
But what makes Vera Pelle different is my approach. I don’t just provide skin and brow treatments—I always want to partner with you. I look at your lifestyle, your habits, your gut health, your mindset. I educate you every step of the way. Because I believe every client deserves to feel empowered, not confused or talked at.
I’ve worked hard to create a space that feels luxurious but also real. Intentional. Elevated. Where my clients feel like they’re finally heard. Whether we’re targeting stubborn breakouts, dark marks that won’t budge, or premature fine lines that snuck up WAY too soon—I’m here to build a skin plan that actually works and meets you where you are!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Absolutely not. This journey has been anything but easy. Behind the treatments, the costs, the products, the content, and the growth of Vera Pelle… has been a whole lot of sacrifice, trial-and-error, lessons, and very real pressure.
One of the biggest challenges early on has been stepping into the beauty industry as a corrective skin specialist—not just someone doing fluffy facials or following trends. I have to prove that what I am doing is clinical, intentional, and results-based, even when people didn’t always understand the difference. I have to educate while building, and build while educating. And that’s hard when you’re still finding your own processes.
Then there was the behind-the-scenes work that no one sees—the 12-hour days learning skin chemistry, managing finances, redoing my policies, rescheduling clients, filming content, editing, shipping products, and still trying to show up as your present and available provider.
There are slower days. Last-minute cancellations. No shows. I’ve had to get really comfortable with grit—with doing it uncertain, with showing up anyways, and learning how to say “no” in order to protect my “yes.” But every struggle refined me. Every tough lesson is making me a better businesswoman, a better aesthetician, a better communicator, and a better advocate for my clients.
So no—it hasn’t been smooth. But it’s been real and worth every moment.
As you know, we’re big fans of Vera Pelle. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Vera Pelle is my heart.
It’s a multicultural and corrective skin studio that I am building from the ground up with one goal in mind—to help people feel authentic in their real skin. We specialize in treating the things that most people are struggling with behind closed doors—acne, dark spots, uneven tone, premature aging—the skin issues that go beyond the surface and affect how you really feel about yourself.
What makes Vera Pelle different is that it’s not just about a “pretty facial” or a quick fix. We’re focused on true correction. That means we look at your lifestyle, your habits, your routine, and we build a skin plan that makes sense for you. Our consultations are detailed and personal. We don’t do one-size-fits-all, because your skin deserves better than that.
In addition to skin treatments, we also offer brow services—waxing, tinting, brow lamination, and my Signature Brow Trio. Everything is done with intention and care, because I want you to walk out feeling confident, clean, and elevated—without ever feeling overdone or unnatural.
I’m most proud of how Vera Pelle has become a space where people feel seen. So many of my clients come to me after trying everything—products that didn’t work, providers who didn’t listen—and for the first time, they feel heard. My clients understand their skin. My clients leave with real answers. And I don’t take that lightly!
If there’s one thing I want people to know, it’s this: Vera Pelle is where you come when you’re ready to do the work, when you’re tired of guessing, and when you’re ready to heal. We’re results-driven, education-focused, and built on care. This is skin and brow therapy—but make it luxurious.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Yes, training and knowledge are absolutely foundational — but I believe what I work to incorporate to set me apart and allows me to thrive in this industry is authenticity and character. I can have all the certifications in the world, but if my energy isn’t aligned, if my intentions aren’t pure, or if I’m performing instead of serving, people will feel that. Clients may find you from your social media presence or perceived skills, but they will stay because of who you really are.
In the beauty industry, I am finding that trust is everything. I am not just touching skin — I am entering someone’s personal space, their insecurities, their story. That requires great care. It requires compassion. And it absolutely requires you to lead with who you are, not just what you know. I’m not trying to be like everyone else in my business — I want to stay rooted in my lane, my values, and my purpose as a beauty entrepreneur and business owner.
I don’t sugarcoat the work it takes to heal your skin. I’m honest, I’m direct, and I’m very transparent on what’s got to go — because that’s what builds long-term relationships with my clients. That’s what creates my community, which I love. I don’t show up as a “brand.” I show up as me — someone who took a leap to do what literally lights me up and who treats every single face like it matters — because it does.
Character shows in how you handle mistakes, how you follow up with clients, how you keep your word, and how you educate without ego. In this industry — where trust, word-of-mouth, and transformation are everything — your character is your reputation.
So yes, knowledge matters. Training matters. But at the end of the day, it’s your authenticity, your energy, and the way you carry yourself that determines your success. People remember how you made them feel — and that starts with being real and being honest. I always want my clients to leave feeling known, seen, and loved.
