Inspiring Conversations with Erin Perkins of EP Photography

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Perkins.

Hi Erin, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always had the itch to take photos and use photography as my creative outlet. After I graduated college, I bought my first camera and could not have been more excited. I spent time researching, practicing, and observing other photographers to find a way to craft my work. I find it to be so much fun being able to create beautiful images for families to enjoy for years to come. I am a big people person; I have never met a stranger and I love getting to know all the wonderful people I get to photograph and how to mesh with one another to create an image that will last a lifetime.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been the smoothest road for me. Starting off I did it as more of a hobby. When you graduate college, your main focus is to find a job and gain a steady income. I made the mistake of putting photography on the back burner during this stage of my life. Once I did realize that this is something I wanted to make more than just a hobby, COVID-19 hit. During this time, not many people would want to be out getting photographs taken so this was also a downfall for me. Since COVID restrictions have let up and people are out living again, I have to say this has been a great past year for me. I have gotten to take many pictures. One thing about photography that I love is that after every session when I look at the photos, I see improvement. Every time I take photos, I learn something new about my technique and style. I have a great feeling that there is a bright future for myself in this industry and I will keep working hard to fulfill this dream of mine.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in all lifestyle photos. I have taken family photos, senior grad photos, surprise engagements, weddings, and couples’ sessions. I am extremely outgoing and love meeting new people. Something that sets me apart is that I try to make you feel as comfortable and confident as you possibly can. My goal is to make being in front of the camera fun! I love bright, colorful photos that beam with joy and happiness. That is what I strive to capture for you to have for years to come.

How do you think about luck?
I am very fortunate and blessed to get to do what I love and that God has put me in the position that I am in.
