Today we’d like to introduce you to Falon Scott.
Hi Falon, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I actually began working in the events industry when I was 17 years old… and at 40, am still going strong! Though I went to college to be a music publicist, I quickly learned that my skill set was more centered around detail management, overall organization, creative ideas, and leadership.
Throughout my 23 years in the industry, I have produced events on three continents across countless countries and languages. Now, as CEO, my passion is pure business management, visual pathways, and fostering our company culture.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Haha! No path work taking is an easy one… and mine definitely was not. On top of the recent pandemic and the market crash of 2008, there have been countless sleepless nights and worrisome weekends. From losing city-wide power seven minutes prior to starting an event to two days out budget cuts or exploding attendance numbers, we are expert crisis managers for all logistics errors and people problems.
The struggles I went through have helped define how I lead my company today, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
We’ve been impressed with Evolution Event Solutions and Maple Ridge Events, Powered by EES, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Evolution Event Solutions: EES is a strategic meeting management and special event production company. We specialize in both corporate and non-profit meetings, events, incentive trips, product launches, grand openings, and much more. Locally, we are known for producing all major local events including the Iroquois Steeplechase.
We are different from the rest because we look at every event as a business. To us, it’s not just about the linen color or the taste of the food; it’s about the reason behind the event, the ROI needed, the attendee experience, and how we serve our clients by saving them both time and money.
I am very proud of the fact that we are the only WBENC certified event company in Nashville and have an expertise diverse team who can take on anything! In addition, our client retention is unmatched… once companies work with us, we travel with them around the world, continually executing successful meetings and events!
I would want the readers to know that we are the local authority on all things events here in Nashville; we love a good challenge, whether it be budget restrictions or creative design… and we love exceeding those expectations!
Maple Ridge Events, Powered by EES: MRE x EES is the Destination Management division of EES. Destination Management is the managing of local event services for a destination.
MRE x EES is currently the largest DMC headquartered in Nashville, TN. We specialize in thinking outside of the box, being extremely responsive, and working hard to make our clients’ dreams come true!
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I am most definitely a risk-taker, both personally and professionally! Personally, I have been skydiving, ran with the bulls, and am a fan of fast cars. Professionally, I believe in more calculated risk. Business always requires a certain level of educated guesses as you move throughout the business cycle.
Starting a business, in itself, is a risk. Growing a business through a pandemic and keeping a staffed team is a risk. However, we do not take unnecessary risks and make sure that all business decisions keep both our success and our client’s satisfaction in mind.
