Inspiring Conversations with Jackie Lowe of Servant Heart Realty Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jackie Lowe.

Jackie Lowe

Hi Jackie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
A dear friend of mine was a Realtor, and she told me I’d be great at it. I have always had a background in Customer Service. I did not know much about the real estate field, but I knew that I wanted to “help people.” That was really all I knew at the time. I ended up going to real estate school, which is way tougher than people think, might I add. I passed the class with no problems at all. Then came the time to take the state exam. Whew, after two times, I passed it. I felt like a weight was lifted. So I got my license in 2007.

We all know now that this was when the market crashed. I worked one day with my friend in her real estate office, and I was like, ummm, this is not for me. Honestly, we were in a time when we needed money fast. And just starting out in Real Estate takes some grit and some time. I am a believer in God, so my husband and I began to pray for direction. I decided I wanted to work in Property Management. God opened a door for me to start out as a Leasing Agent at an apartment community. I absolutely loved my job and did it well. I worked my way up from Leasing Agent to Assistant Manager to Property Manager of a luxury apartment community in a span of 5 years. Then my husband & I got some news that we were pregnant with our daughter. This would be our fourth child, but our first girl. I knew then that I wanted to be home with her.

I wanted to raise her differently. My husband agreed. I desired to be more than just a stay-at-home mom, though. I am very independent and still want to have the flexibility to be home with her and make my own money. After some thought and prayer, God led me back to real estate. He gave me the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30) and told me to go get my buried talent. So I did! My daughter was a newborn, and with the help of my mom, I was able to go back to fulfill my 90 hours of Post Licensing Requirements. So in September 2012, my broker’s license was completely activated. I joined a firm in Greensboro, NC, sold my first house, and then in November, found out we were moving to Charlotte with my husband’s job!

Another shift, but with each other and through God, we endured. We moved to Charlotte in January 2013. I took some time off to get the kids situated and adjusted. In March 2013, my daughter was ready for part-time preschool, and I was ready to get back to work. I joined a firm here in Charlotte and was able to build my business over the years. It was like starting from scratch all over, but it was still a great learning experience. Learning a new place, a new field, and building my family & business all at once. Fast forward to 2020, in the pandemic, it was time to stretch out in faith again. In July 2020, I launched my own real estate firm, Servant Heart Realty Group, in 2019, and then in 2020, my firm went fully independent.

Today, I am a minority woman-owned Real Estate Firm Owner. We have brokers in both Charlotte and The Greensboro Triad areas. We graciously serve these and all surrounding areas. This all began with a heart to “help people” or a heart to serve. I am now able to serve my community by empowering others to obtain Financial Wealth through Real Estate. Many are overcoming economic disparity and generational lack/poverty, and I get to be a witness along the journey to help them overcome. My business is 99.9% Referral and Sphere of Influence based. I feel this is mainly because this is about more than a real estate transaction. This is personal. This is relational for me.

I did not want to just stop helping my clients, I forged out my own firm because I wanted to bring that same energy to other agents. Being a Realtor is hard. I know certain shows may make it look easy, but it has its days, just like anything else. I want to be that accountability partner for our Servant Heart Realty Group agents so they know they don’t have to do real estate alone. This is more than real estate; this is a ministry for me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. There have been financial struggles with being commission based. Learning a new area. The shifts in the market. Remember when I started the market crashed? Higher interest rates and prices have a lot of buyers on the sidelines. A low inventory of homes makes it hard to find listings.

The costs of business. Being a realtor is costly. Then there’s the struggle of finding work, life, and balance with a family, but with time and wisdom, we have been able to endure it all.

Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about Servant Heart Realty Group?
We are an NC Real Estate Firm based in Charlotte, NC, and Greensboro Triad, NC. We currently serve these and all surrounding areas. We also have built a referral network of other Realtors all over the globe. We work with Buyers, Sellers, and Investors. We specialize in building relationships and becoming “the family realtor.” I am most proud that I successfully managed relocation for my family and built this business from the ground up. I am proud that I am able to keep God and my family first, then business.

I believe these are healthy boundaries. I am also proud that my daughter has seen this progress. She, too, will know there are no limits for her in business and real estate. My goal was to be able to have the flexibility to serve God, my family, and my community. I feel that we do this well & she sees it. So, whatever she sets out to do, she too can have success. I am proud that in the middle of a pandemic, I launched my firm, and we are still here today, being fruitful in our communities.

We have helped a lot of first-time homebuyers navigate the process. This is huge because most of our clients are minority clients. Sadly, there is still a big gap between minority realtors and minority homeowners, and Servant Heart Realty Group is doing its part to help close that gap. Whether you are a first-time home buyer/seller, a veteran, relocating, downsizing, moving up, investing, whatever the case – we are here to help you!

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart” Col. 3:22.

Any big plans?
My plan is to continue to grow myself as a broker and owner, as well as assist our agents’ growth. I want them to be the best agents that they can be, to go beyond what I can do. My goal is to continue to maintain a work-life balance and be successful at that.

We already do real estate workshops, networking, and outreach events. We also have a partnership with an online real estate school. No big changes are planned at this moment.
