Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Smith

Jasmine, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset! Whether it was walking the neighbor’s dogs as a kid, or running a spray tanning side hustle out of my sorority house. Growing up with entrepreneurial parents definitely rubbed off on me! When I graduated college I was working as an in-house brand manager for an influencer in Knoxville. I was also managing the digital marketing strategy for a wholesale t-shirt company/boutique. I wanted to make my way back home to Nashville, so I accepted a remote position doing contract work for another agency. About a year and a half ago I knew I wanted to make a change in my career which is when I decided it was time to go out on my own! I really enjoy working with my clients and wanted to be able to service them how I best saw fit! So, right before Christmas that year I took the leap and haven’t looked back since.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Growth isn’t always linear! Of course, there have been ups and downs. I feel very thankful that in the grand scheme of things my progress has continued to move in the right direction. One of the main struggles I’ve learned to get comfortable with is being a solopreneur! Until recently I haven’t had anyone on my team to help manage the workload and bounce ideas off of. I love collaborating and found the first year of my business to be very lonely. I’m thankful to have a very supportive community of family and friends who have been great sounding boards for new ideas. I couldn’t have done it without them, and I’m especially excited/thankful for my first full-time hire and an amazing team of contractors.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I love seeing the real-life impact of our work at DRLN. It brings me a lot of fulfillment knowing we’ve made a difference in another business owner’s life. Hearing about how my client’s customers are raving about their social media, or seeing them expand into franchises, or selling out major theaters across the US feels really great. Helping other businesses thrive and grow is very rewarding and what drives my passion every day.
