Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeff Flathau.
Hi Jeff, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
i started out in the restaurant business and veered to catering. From there, I added baked goods to the wholesale gift industry.
We branched out to include almost all sectors of the market from grocery to export.
I still operate our catering business today[Flathau’s Fine Catering] as well as our cookie and cheese straw manufacturing facility;.
We also purchased Robicheaux’s chocolates and we operate that as well.
In addition, we co pack items for other company’s . This makes up about 32% of our present day business.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No venture is smooth, though some more than others. Catering was smoother than the manufacturing side for sure.

Flathau’s Fine Foods specializes in the manufacturing and distributing of baked cookies, cheese straws and other snacks.
Our signature cookie is called a snap, which has hard candy in the dough, giving the cookie a little crunch.nap]
We have won four SOFI AWARDS, and two MINPA AWARDS as well as several Best of Atlanta awards and several other national awards for various products in our line.
We offer our products in cartons, cans, gift sets and tins, offering a wide array of packaging choices.
We are proud of our products taste and packaging.

My wife Heather had a big role in creating the ‘Snaps’ and helping to get that part of the business off the ground.
My Dad, Bill Flathau, was a big help and cheerleader. My Mom , Mary Ruth, was instrumental in shaping my love for cooking.
My grandmothers Hilda Flathau and Nancy Smith showed me how to cook southern style and Northern style.
Charles Glover was a mentor, setting an example as an entrepaneur .
