Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
In July of 2021, I experienced a tumultuous year filled with temporary physical disabilities, struggles with fertility, and mental health struggles. I was struggling through a dark time in my life. The rupturing of my Achilles left me housebound for 6 months to a year. I had purchased a candle kit several years prior and decided to pull the candle-making kit out to experiment. Little did I know, it would turn into something very much therapeutic and ultimately help me out of a dark place. It was at that point that I realized this was something I was passionate about, thoroughly enjoyed, and something I wanted to share with others.

The idea of The Black Candle Company was driven by my design style of all things modern, minimalist, and simple. I wanted the candles that I make to be a direct reflection of me and my style. Our overall goal at The Black Candle Company is to provide home fragrance products that will inevitably change the lives of our customers. We want to create a sensory experience that is unforgettable with a dual focus on providing clean burning, vegan, cruelty-free, and eco-friendly products. We feel everyone should have access to luxury without having to pay an outrageous price. We hope that our products will leave a long-lasting impression on our customers and keep them coming back!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My entrepreneurial journey has not been a smooth road by any means. I have faced challenges in various forms that have ultimately helped me to grow and learn. The obstacles/challenges I have faced are part of a bigger plan to help shape me into a sharper businesswoman.

I like to think all things happen for a reason and that all of the challenges and obstacles we face are intentional. They show various lessons that will hopefully change our perspective and force us to grow.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be going to Disney World with my family during Christmas.

I loved every moment of exploring the various parks, riding the rides, eating the different foods, and ultimately laughing and making memories with my family. It is one of those memories as a child I could never forget.
