Inspiring Conversations with Jessica Zweig of Jessica Zweig, Inc.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Zweig

Hi Jessica, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I went to college for theater. (When I graduated I knew how to do two things really well: wait tables and be dramatic.) I bumbled around my 20s, searching for my purpose and chasing narcissistic boyfriends until I accidentally stumbled into entrepreneurship at the age of 27. It was at that time that I started what would become the biggest digital magazine for women in the city of Chicago in 2008.

While it was a critical success, it was a financial failure. After seven years of running that business, I found myself broke, in credit card debt, with an autoimmune disorder from the stress of running that business and going through a horrible business divorce with my partner. It was then that I started doing the deep work on myself from a personal development and spiritual growth perspective.

That experience set me on a path to step into my own authenticity, which is what ultimately inspired business number two, SimplyBe. Agency, which would later become the nation’s premier personal branding agency. While I started it with a lot of debt and personal insecurity, I had clarity in the mission of that business and ended up scaling it from a one woman consultancy to a full service agency that became a multi-seven figure business. I wrote my first #1 bestselling book during that time that really put us on the map when it came to personal branding, and we later became one of Inc’s Fastest Growing Companies in America. I ended up selling that business at the end of 2023.

But the story behind that story was rooted in my addiction to the hustle, the hamster wheel and the validation cycle of success. I never fully healed from the trauma of going broke, and even though I was “successful,” I never really felt in abundance. I was just running away from scarcity.

While I’m super proud of that business’s trajectory and that I scaled and exited it, the biggest gift of that period was finally coming back to my feminine identity. It was during that time I realized how I was innately designed and what I’m really here to do—to use my gifts in business to help women do, build and scale differently.

This has inspired so many things:
– My top podcast, The Spiritual Hustler
– My new book and USA Today bestseller, THE LIGHT WORK
– My move to Nashville and getting out of the masculine, concrete city of Chicago to be in lush nature
– To really use all of my gifts and share them with the world

I’m now in a place where I really feel embodied and have my values in order and am living a much simpler life with a smaller team and an even bigger dream.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think because I’m so ambitious, my fire and my drive often take the wheel. I can get really stuck in the weeds of my schedule and linear time, pushing my body too hard and, unfortunately, having health issues still arise from this.

Another obstacle that a lot of entrepreneurs feel is loneliness. While I really self-generated my own solution by creating my own community through my programs and retreats, I think there is always a deeper yearning to feel like you belong. While it’s manifested in my life in such a beautiful way (I have such a beautiful and deep group of Sisters!), there has always been this deeper longing for me to find community, which is a really big reason why I wanted to move to Nashville. The community of women creatives and entrepreneurs is so legit, so warm, so embracing and so supportive in this city.

One of my biggest obstacles will always be feeling like I’m doing enough, feeling like I’m making a big enough impact and reaching enough people. It’s somewhat of a projection field that I definitely get caught in. While this is vulnerable to say, I know I’m not alone in this experience, especially as a female entrepreneur.

We’ve been impressed with Jessica Zweig, Inc., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m now blending business, branding and spirituality in my work with female leaders and entrepreneurs through:

– The Feminine Frequency Business School, a 12-Week Feminine Leadership Business Training & Certification for Women Who Are Ready to Scale with Impact and Ease

– Claim Your Light retreats, the only business-focused retreat for high-vibe, high-performing Lightworkers ready to tune into themselves and shine even brighter

– Plus private masterminds and 1:1 client work

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My happiness is SO simple. I find happiness in quiet mornings, hiking, or going to a beautiful, intimate dinner with my husband on date night. I also love to travel and get out into the world to see this great gorgeous planet. I love to write, I love to read, I love to journal, I love to dance (thank Goddess for the ecstatic dance parties here in Nashville that allow me to dance like a fool every couple weeks!). My family, my nephews, my niece and my dogs bring me so much happiness.

We’re also building a house in the woods on five acres of forest which makes me SO happy to know that we are going to have a true home to grow roots.

Lastly, my team brings me so much happiness. Being around my gorgeous team of women who are on the same mission to have a huge impact in the world brings me so much joy and fulfillment!
