Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Hammond.
Hi Justin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Since the age of 12, I have enjoyed working with seniors and have been involved one way or another with this population. I pursued my Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work, both with a Certificate in Gerontology. My career path has led me through many roles with in-home care and now move management, all with a common thread of service to people.
As my career and the needs of the industry have evolved, I have realized that seniors are not the only population group who appreciate high-touch services and have expanded our reach to all clients that would like a full-service experience during one of the most stressful times of any person’s life–moving!
My mission that is shared by our whole team is do the best we can everyday to make someone else’s life transition a little bit smoother, a little bit more organized and bring peace during their time of chaos and transition to a different home.
One of the greatest investments we can make is in the time we spend with people around us. I have found that making this investment during a very challenging time in our clients’ lives is one of the most rewarding experiences not only for myself, but our whole team!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have certainly been challenges and hurdles to overcome along the way!
Learning how to work with people of widely varying backgrounds, cultures, expectations and personalities is always the top of my list of challenges. Everyone is so unique in their level of service expectations and the levels of communication required, that each day proves to be a continual learning experience of how to be better and deliver a higher quality outcome for clients.
Additionally, while this may be cliche, COVID was an industry disrupter for sure in the senior service market. Remember when you would hear stories of someone’s grandmother or grandfather who was quarantined in a nursing home room or assisted living apartment and the family was prohibited from entering the building and visiting with them? Seniors were dying alone because of these restrictions and it caused a lot of distrust in the senior healthcare world for a while. This created a huge delay and pause in the thinking patterns of families who needed more care for their loved ones and the senior move management industry came to a halt!
These challenges have all been overcome with patience, agility of pivoting in service delivery and creativity in entrepreneurship to create unique solutions that keep clients at the forefront.
As you know, we’re big fans of Let’s Get Moving!. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are professional Move Managers–NOT movers! We are unique in the way we approach relocations. Our time-tested Project Management process over the last 21 years has placed us in the position of experts in anticipating the most efficient ways to accomplish small or very large-scale moving projects. We are known for specializing in seniors who are Downsizing or settling estates of loved ones who have passed and how to navigate the twists and turns of unwinding an estate plan with tangible assets.
Additionally, we are growing exponentially in managing complicated and multi-phased moves for the Ultra High Net-Worth individuals and entertainers for which Nashville is so well-known. These clients have high expectations and demands that provide an exciting challenge for our team and company, and we continue to elevate every day.
The thing that most sets us apart from others is two-fold. First, we are one of the longest-standing (if not the longest!) companies that provides full-service Senior Move Management in Nashville. We receive client referrals from clients we served MANY years ago and it’s so cool that the reputation still stands solid. Secondly, we are the FIRST company in the State of Tennessee that has achieved the highest accreditation status of the National Association of Senior Move Managers. This third-party accreditation process is rigorous and thorough and only 10% of Move Managers achieve this status in the whole country.
Again, our brand is strong and long-standing. In 2024, we refreshed our colors to better represent the full gamut of clientele we have grown to serve. While our base of clients is still very strongly focused on helping seniors successfully downsize and disperse a lifetime of collections, we are growing rapidly in many other areas of relocation and our brand now better reflects that.
I want readers to know that Let’s Get Moving! is a SOLUTION to your relocation needs. If you are simply looking for a couple of strong guys and a box truck to move a few pieces of furniture, we may be more than what you are needing. But if you feel overwhelmed, stressed or paralyzed how to approach your next move, our team excels in providing solutions and a great plan of action to make your move as smooth as it can be! Moving is hard! You shouldn’t have to do it alone.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Move Management is changing, it seems, every day. More and more of our clients are seeking high level of service at a great value. Everyone is just so busy these days that service is in more demand than ever. While AI is taking over a lot of industries and potentially replacing roles in certain places, we are finding that AI is a great tool that enhances our industry and creates more stability, rather than being a threat. There is no replacement to the element of human interaction that our team provides when we are delivering a service during a highly emotional transition.
I believe over the next 5-10 years that our industry in move management will be highly automated in the logistics component, but will remain steadfast in the demand for personal human interaction and attention to details as we are moving highly valuable personal belongings.
