Today we’d like to introduce you to Kara Dellinger.
Hi Kara, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always believed that taking care of yourself isn’t selfish; it’s what allows you to show up fully for everything and everyone else in your life. That belief has become even more meaningful to me over the past decade I’ve spent building my career in marketing.
As I’ve grown professionally, I’ve also become more intentional about my own wellness and the role it plays in how I work, live, and show up for the people around me. That personal connection to wellness naturally grew alongside my professional one. Over the years, I found myself getting to know more people who owned and operated wellness businesses and studios, and I began to see just how much they were doing to help their clients feel better, live healthier, and take better care of themselves. I also saw where many of these businesses needed more strategic marketing support and professional guidance to grow sustainably.
That was where the two worlds really came together for me. I realized I could take the marketing experience I had spent a decade building and use it to support an industry I genuinely believe in. I created Well Strategy Studio to help wellness studios build sustainable marketing strategies that continuously bring the right clients through the door, give those clients reasons to come back, and create the consistent revenue needed to keep growing.
Looking back, I can see how each part of my journey led me here: a decade of building my marketing expertise, a personal commitment to wellness, and the relationships I’ve built with people who have dedicated their careers to helping others feel their best. I’m deeply grateful to contribute to that cycle of helping wellness businesses thrive so they can continue helping more people prioritize their own well-being. It’s incredibly true to who I am and the kind of impact I want my work to have.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As my business has grown, I’ve had to learn that growth brings its own set of challenges. One of the biggest has been figuring out how to scale what I’m doing without losing the quality, thoughtfulness, and care that have always been at the heart of my work. And while I’ve become much more intentional about how I lead and grow the business, I’ve had to learn that making room for my own life and quality time matters just as much.
It’s easy to become so invested in your work, especially when you genuinely care about what you’re building, that taking care of yourself starts to feel like something you’ll get to later. But wellness is at the heart of why I chose this path in the first place, so I’ve had to remind myself that I can’t separate the work I believe in from the way I choose to live.
The struggles have ultimately shaped how I approach both my business and my life. They’ve taught me that growth doesn’t have to mean doing more at the expense of yourself, and that you can pursue something ambitious while still protecting the care and intention that made you want to pursue it in the first place. For me, that has become just as important as the success itself.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Well Strategy Studio is a marketing strategy and consulting studio that creates customized marketing strategies for brick-and-mortar wellness studios to attract more clients, keep them coming back, and grow their revenue.
Wellness studio owners are experts in caring for their clients; they shouldn’t have to become marketing experts on top of everything else they manage. My role is to bring the strategic perspective, identify the opportunities, build the right systems, and help make marketing feel more manageable and purposeful.
What I’m most proud of, though, is the impact behind the work. The goal isn’t simply to help a business generate more revenue. It’s to help wellness businesses become stronger and more sustainable so they can continue doing what they do best: helping people take better care of themselves and live well. Knowing that my work can contribute to that ripple effect is what makes Well Strategy Studio so meaningful to me.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
The people you surround yourself with can shape far more than your career. The right mentor can help you see a possibility you hadn’t considered; the right friend can remind you of your capabilities when you’re doubting yourself, and the right clients can become genuine advocates for what you’re building.
Some of those people are my marketing professors from college. Several are still mentors today, and I continue to learn from them, their experiences, and the careers they’ve built. I also reach out to them when I’m working through a business or career decision because I trust their expertise and know I’ll get honest, thoughtful advice. Having people I can learn from and turn to who will challenge my thinking has made a real difference in how I’ve grown and the decisions I’ve made throughout my career.
I also have a close friend who does Fractional work herself and has been one of my biggest cheerleaders and advocates. She understands the realities of building a business, so I can talk through a big decision or a moment of doubt with someone who truly gets it. Having someone who can both challenge you and remind you what you’re capable of is incredibly powerful.
My clients have also become an important part of this support system. Some have become genuine friends who recommend me, advocate for my work, celebrate my wins, and genuinely care about my happiness. Having these types of clients is a big reason why I became an entrepreneur: to have the opportunity to work with people I genuinely care about and who care about me. Those relationships remind me that business can be deeply human, and that the right clients can become some of your greatest supporters.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from all of these relationships, it’s to be intentional about the people you let into your world. Look for people who know you well enough to give you honest perspective, understand enough to challenge you, and care enough to cheer for you. You don’t need a huge network; you need the right people in your corner. And often, those relationships end up shaping your confidence and your path in ways you couldn’t have anticipated when they began.
