Inspiring Conversations with Kenzie Stewart of True Form Fitness: A Lagree Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kenzie Stewart.

Hi Kenzie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Wow, where to begin? Just a few weeks after graduating college, I felt the Lord put on my heart to pursue a business idea. It was insanely clear to me what it would be, what it would be called, who it would service & what it would do for our city, so I called my parents, sat them down, and told them my business plan from the start to finish. After lots of fine-tuning, we began looking at commercial spaces for a workout studio specializing in the Lagree Fitness method, to open in downtown Franklin, TN. My idea was to combine faith, fitness, and wellness, creating a space where individuals could receive physical fitness instruction and spiritual, emotional, and mental health services. As the search continued, doors began closing. But when entries close, others open, right? When my employer at the Lagree studio I was coaching at for about a year, Studio Novo Franklin, called and asked if I would be interested in taking ownership of the studio. And to say the rest is history is true! It was a Wednesday afternoon, the same day we were looking into signing an LOI for a space (which was way out of budget) in downtown Franklin.

Six weeks after that phone call, on April 1st, my 22nd birthday, I was announced as & became the new owner of Studio Novo Franklin. These past six months, with this studio as my baby, have been utterly unreal! So much has remained over the past months, while a million things have also changed – the biggest of which just recently happened. On October 17th, we announced our rebrand and name change – officially becoming True Form Fitness: A Lagree Studio, allowing us to branch off completely from the previous company. We continue to offer one of the most difficult, mentally challenging physical fitness programs in the area while also introducing wellness components and retail services to clients.

It is truly just the beginning for this tiny home away from home on Carothers Parkway, and I could not be more thankful that the Lord entrusted me with this blessing at just 22 years old. Aside from True Form, which at this point, this studio has entirely become my personality, haha. I enjoy the sweet little things in life. Quiet time in the morning, cute coffee shops, healthy eating, walks, time spent with family and friends, and traveling. I have big dreams and plans for this business, and I can’t wait to see the doors that open and close in the near & foreseeable future. Thank you, Jesus, for this life.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Hmmm. I wouldn’t say smooth, but I would say blessed, even in the hard. Being just 22, I was thrown into a world that I was in no way prepared for. They don’t teach you most of the real life, bills, financials, and major responsibility stuff in college (haha).

In summary, most of the struggles I have faced have simply been learning how to lead well and being okay with not knowing the answers. Walking into a business under previous leadership & authority for almost a decade, I had to learn how to communicate changes effectively and tackle conversations & shifts in the business with boldness. And like I said previously, I have also learned that it is okay to not “know.”During the first few weeks and months of taking over ownership, my most common response was, “I do not know, but I will figure it out!” I had my dad, my Financial Advisor & the previous owner of Studio Novo on speed dial! But being okay & in surrender to learn, grow, and seek the answers from others, has made me into the person & business owner that I am today. I pray I continue to “not know” well, and become a vessel of information for people in my position in the future. And like I said, blessings have flowed like none other throughout this process, even when they shouldn’t.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are True Form Fitness, a Megaformer studio specializing in coaching the Lagree Fitness Method. What is this method? Lagree is a patented, high-intensity, low-impact, full-body workout that will strengthen, tighten, and tone your muscles quickly and safely. It’s the trifecta of muscular strength, endurance, and flexibility, a one-of-a-kind 50-minute experience that leaves you not only shaking but feeling more energetically and physically equipped.

True Form is the only studio of its kind in the Franklin area and just 1 out of 2 studios in the greater Nashville, Middle Tennessee area that offers this form of patented training. And while yes, our studio will provide you with the most challenging workout in the area, we also offer retail services and overall wellness services, elevating your fitness experience entirely.

But this place is just so much more than a workout. It’s a home away from home for people, a safe space, and a company that’s heart & culture are to love. Keep your eyes out & ears listening for True Form Fitness! True Form’s culture is unmatched and unlike anything I have ever experienced. These people show up day in and day out for themselves and the people around them, creating what I am the proudest of 4 walls of pure love, acceptance & dedication. There is so much to come for this business.

What characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to if you had to?
