Inspiring Conversations with Kira Miller of Mere Skincare

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kira Miller.

Hi Kira, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I suffered from common health concerns for a while from my late teens up until my mid-twenties. I had been to a plethora of doctors trying to find cures to my issues, but they would never tell me the source or how to fix them. I was always given a script. After watching my body respond negatively to their recommendation, I started researching the reasons why I was recommended what they gave me and found the answer to my problem: hormonal imbalance.

I also found that balancing your hormones was quite easy to do, and was confused on why my Doctor didn’t just tell me what the root issue of my concerns was and handed me medication instead. I also found out that my hormonal issues were the root cause of my acne, which I too had been trying to correct for years! I began working on integrative approaches to healing my body. This sparked a passion for skincare for me and how it was attached to internal health and I began sharing my findings with people across social outlets.

I was a product junkie at that time and had tried everything that Youtube University recommended for me, only to fail as a result of correcting my skin. I moved to Nashville (which the buzz was spreading about back in my hometown of Detroit, Michigan) in 2018 and continued my journey in healing here. I soon learned that there was an entire school dedicated to teaching people about skin and decided to enroll. I started my education in September 2019 at Paul Mitchell the School Nashville in Esthetics and found myself on my way to becoming a Medical Aesthetician.

I was taught the best of skincare advice and learning by two women who I will forever owe gratitude towards, my two Learning Leaders at Paul Mitchell “Ikiya Flecther, and Audra Clark. These women taught me everything that would prepare me into becoming the Aesthetician that I am today, and I say this with confidence. I want the world to know who they are.

After gaining my license I continued my education in health-related studies by joining the Institute of Integrative Nutrition’s health coach program. Five months from now, I will be a certified integrative nutritionist and can use my learning to further advance my knowledge in skincare and health for my clients.

I created my business Mere Skincare LLC February 2021. It’s a skincare clinic for all age groups, that focuses on skincare treatments from an integrative approach. We focus on the individual and the root cause of their skin-related issues. Most of my sessions end with free hugs.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been very smooth once I found how to align my passion with my profession. I love skincare treatments and products, but I love people more. Once I combined my love for helping people with my business and shifted my focus on my client’s overall wellbeing, I saw my loyalty with them skyrocket and the racing of my heart confirmed to me that I had developed a good thing.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Mere Skincare is an Integrative Skincare Clinic for all ages. We focus on the internal source of one’s skincare concerns.

I and my clients together create custom skincare treatments that are specific to one’s bio individually. In our partnership, we discover what paths are the easiest to take to overcoming addictions and negative behaviors that birth acne-related issues. Once we knock out the root cause, we focus on corrective repair treatments (which a lot of clients look at as the “fun stuff”) and get your skin back to the way you envision it to be.

Skincare products come in second to this, because I stress for my clients to understand that skincare is not to be idolized, it’s just skincare. Just as simple as soap is to one’s personal hygiene, skincare is the same. You have to wash your face. We don’t depend on skincare to reach our goals, we depend on ourselves, our health, and what we put into our bodies as the source.

I’m proud that my brand represents me. I created my clinic to cater to clients like me! The minimalist individual wants answers that don’t cost more than they should. Someone who will listen only if it makes sense and isn’t complex and confusing, or come with a membership or a subscription or a sales pitch. I hate sales pitches. I love when I get clients who want help and are looking to be pampered. I stress that Mere Skincare is a skincare clinic, not a spa!

I want your readers to know that my passion and concern are my clients. When you book an appointment you don’t just get a treatment you gain a health partner, and I’m willing to be by their side the entire ride towards the finish line. We may even become lifelong friends.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the scenery the most about Nashville! It’s the most serene place I’ve ever been to! I felt right at home and completely understand why people come to visit and stay.

The last thing I like would be the bugs! Haha, I have a huge dislike for bugs and since moving here I have yet to become used to anything with wings, insects that move rapidly, or the palmetto roaches! Yuck.
