Inspiring Conversations with Leon McLemore III of BxdMxn Auto

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leon McLemore III.

Hi Leon, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
It all seems like such a long time ago. My mother and father are both from the DMV area, but their love story is unique. My father, Leon McLemore, Jr. (son of Leon McLemore Sr. Decorated Soldier, Purple Heart Recipient, and an Ambassador of the EPA) was finding himself after his father told him “I love you son but you can’t stay in DC”. He was a habitual Drug user and all around just not in the position to be great. So he slept on it and all that night God spoke to him and said go to Nashville.

My mother, who just came from a nasty divorce with a drug kingpin who coincidentally fathered her two children, my brother and sister Stephon and Amber Canty, was in the same situation. Being beaten, broken, mentally, and spiritually, and losing two twins, while being in the army, her life was also due for a reset. So God gave her the same vision to travel to Nashville too. On the bus, my mother and father met. As he tells it, she fell in love at first sight, but he did say it took him a couple of months. As she tells it lol she said no to him every day for three months and he was so persistent that she finally said yes. So after being together for about three months, they found out they were pregnant with my sister Ajaika.

My dad was on drugs and feeling guilty. You decided to marry my mother at the Salvation Army. 11 months and 10 days after my sister was born, my parents welcomed their first baby boy me. After my uncle died two months before I was born, it was a tough time for my family. So when my mother found out she was pregnant.SIX MONTHS INTO HER PREGNANCY!!!! She embraced it. With them both deciding to name me “Leon Stephen McLemore III” Son of a son of a son, King of a king of a king, Alpha of alpha of alpha. My family migrated to Castle Street in the Murfreesboro project area. before my sister was born and had been going to church.

Where they met a great pastor and First Lady, pastor Dorsey Lee Robinson and Mother Gladeen Robinson of Jesus Oasis ministries. The bond was so strong that they made Pastor Robinson my sister’s godfather and he loves our family so much that he drove my mother to the hospital to have me on his birthday. So it’s like our families are spiritually bonded to a point where I refer to all of his family as my cousins and he does the same. Five years later my dad met Brad Fleming, and they both work at a detailed spot down on Northwest Broad Street.

They started getting close, and one day my dad went up to Brad and said, “Man we were here and we slave ourselves everything let’s go ahead and start on business.” They went back and forth about finances and three months later they started right away auto detailing. They hired some family and friends Branson’s parents gave him the OK to use their family finances and the right way auto detailing was born. with me and my sibling all being the age of over 5 my dad put us to work immediately. With me being the youngest I worked more because my older siblings already had hobbies and actual jobs. With all my siblings playing more than two instruments and me the kid who wanted to be a zoologist lol my dad was harder and more Disciplined with me.

That discipline and hard work into the man I am today. Working a full-time job at Zaxby’s. At Riverdale high school. Working every Saturday after getting home from games at 9 PM. My dad molded and trained me to be prepared to take over the business at any time. Being a natural teenager and a football star, I never thought that I was going to take over the family business. I always knew that I was destined for greater’s, but Blackman superstar now, NFL superstar master Teague stepped on my thumb by accident I knew it was over. Even with him being so polite and saying my bad man, just felt the separation of my thumb from my palm.

I knew that my season might come to an end so I played for two weeks straight and then had surgery with the doctor telling me that I might not ever play football again. With me, facing my future, I decided to rebel Lee got kicked out of the house at 16 and then got expelled from school a month after. In those moments where I stared into my future. Think about how I was going to provide for my family and be the first generation without sports. So I dive deep into what I know, detailing, hard work, greatness, and greatness. I went on my mission to study under each and every Auto industry from Mikes Bubble Wash to Carmax Superstore and with what I’ve learned in those 6 years. I’ve brought into my own company BxDMxN Auto INC®️.

With us being around less than 4 years we have satisfied over 1,000 customers. Being given love and kindness from our community and we have given back to over 20 families in need with not just a Detail for a mom who can’t afford one and has 5 children. But for someone with chronic depression.who just can’t muster up the will, and strength to get to the neighborhood car wash. I’ve employed my family members and friends and I love the sensation I get when I see them working and happy. I can truly say “BxdMxn Auto INC ®️ was my blessing and with my daughter being almost 2 and nieces and nephews all being over 6 I can’t wait to give them the future.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. With my father being my biggest competitor lol it wasn’t either for either of us. But over time we’ve realized that working together but at a distance is what makes us grow and develop.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love about Nashville and Murfreesboro the minority communities stick together. No matter what we go through the Spanish community, Loas community, and the Afro communities (African American, Caribbean, and African).

All stick together no matter what. What I despise about Middle Tennessee is the Police and Justice system. I was pulled over on a Bike at 12 years old riding 300 ft to my Caucasian best friend’s house and was stopped bc I fit the description of a “Local robber”.

If it wasn’t for his mother fighting for me as if I was her own I probably would be another George Floyd or The young Trayvon Martin. If God allows me I’d love to run for council for that reason alone.
