Inspiring Conversations with LS Music Promotions

Today we’d like to introduce you to LS Music Promotions. They and their team shared their story with us below:

LS Music Promotions

LS Music Promotions was formed after our desire to grow the local music scene and there being lack of variety of music styles where we live.

We both have backgrounds in music, Justin was in a successful metal band in years past and Miranda was a former promoter in Atlanta before so our desire to put something together came naturally to us. We had no idea it would grow and morph into anything more than getting some bands to come to town.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Financially this business has been rocky. Paying for bands to play shows and relying on ticket/door sales to cover those expenses has not always worked out in our favor. Most of the time there was a loss.

People don’t go out to concerts and things as much as in years past and that is something we have been hoping to change. Regardless of the financial difficulties, the shows themselves as well as other facets of our company have been very successful in the process.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about LS Music Promotions LLC?
LS Music Promotions LLC does 3 main things: we put on concerts (concert promotion), help with band and venue booking, and offer music management services. We are a 2 person team that complements each other’s strengths to ensure the business grows and we can meet the needs of our clients. We are currently focused more on event booking than venue booking but do plan to have some shows soon.

In addition to the concerts we put on and promote we help bands get booked for gigs, offer assistance with tour routing, and help local venues find artists to fill their spaces. I think we are most proud of how we try and structure our concerts. We believe artists deserve to get paid for their talent and we try and do what we can to offer guaranteed pay that is fair and benefits the bands.

It comes with a lot of risk should not enough people show up to cover the costs, but on many occasions we dig into our day job funds to cover the cost and ensure we show artists our appreciation. In an industry where promoters can easily get a bad name for being money-hungry, we try and show that we are about the music and benefiting the scene as a whole, not lining our pockets.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
We do all of our advertising and promoting so some of our favorite apps to use for creation are PicsArt and Canva as well as CapCut for making our promotional videos. We also heavily rely on Spotify to listen to the bands we work with, YouTube for those who do not have anything recorded and to see if we can hear some examples of live music, and of course all social media platforms to connect with the artists and fans who want to see them.

Our biggest presence is on Facebook but are working to increase exposure on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Our YouTube channel is in progress and will contain interviews with bands and others in the music industry as well as a playlist for artists we promote and manage, among plans for other things!
