Today we’d like to introduce you to Maura Feaheny.
Hi Maura, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have known a true love for design since I was 14 years old, when my parents bought an old colonial home in Michigan. This home was fully gutted and remodeled and I was fortunate to shadow the General Contractor, Designer and the Architect for that home renovation. Through my high school years, I aimed to become an architect. I went to college to obtain my BS in Architecture at University of Illinois. Once I graduated from University of Illinois, I moved to Chicago and built a real estate career there for over 30 years. I worked initially for architectural firms, but realized my true love was to manage projects.
As is such I worked for commercial real estate developers and managed projects ranging from $10,000-$100 million. About 9 years after I began my real estate career, I had an itch to gain an MBA from the University of Chicago — which I did. Going back to school while working full-time taught me the discipline needed to succeed in my business endeavors. After a long career in commercial real estate, I strategically pivoted in 2013 to support senior living communities all over the United States. I worked for three different senior living companies over a 13 year period.
In 2024, I decided to start a home preparation company here in Nashville. The name of the company is HOMEstretch SW Nashville. I am a licensed architect and licensed general contractor. We are an operating franchise, with robust systems. In a community where though I am a solopreneur, I have the support of other HOMEstretch franchisees to lean on, which I have found to be very supportive. Our company prepares homes for sale (and we work with buyers) through design, paint, carpet, flooring, and lighting – no room is off Limits, as we aim to increase value of homes to look and feel their best. I absolutely love what I’m doing and how it applies all my years of experience. I so love the value that we are adding for sellers and buyers alike. We take a very holistic approach to each home. There’s a lot of personal history that goes into any home, but we aim primarily to enhance the architecture of the home, While adding a twist of Nashville glam to the equation. We always look to update it to today’s needs and standards.
We work primarily through realtors who identify opportunities for our unique team, but we’ve had lots and lots of referrals based on past work. Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I don’t see obstacles or challenges to be anything more than opportunities to grow and become a better professional and a happier person.
I suppose the primary obstacle as an architect and career Real estate professional might be that I am a woman in construction and architecture. Though, I have always seen has been as a strength. I lead a successful design and construction business with confidence and a pair of great design eyes!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about HOMEstretch SW Nashville?
As noted Earlier, we offer design through construction services with an aim to protect a person‘s asset in the sale of their home. Our Goal is not only to sell the home quicker, but to increase the value by 2-3x the investment spent on the remodeling project. In Nashville metro, the design bar is set high and we aim to exceed it.
We also work with a lot of buyers to improve their homes to be to their liking. What makes us unique is that all of our service are bundled as a design-build service company. So there’s no asking the homeowner to go out and select a tile or a carpet or a paint color rather — we do the coordinated design effort to maximize each space in each home. We would also love to work more in the commercial sector. We have done a couple of office spaces and found them to be very fun and because of our expert services, our clients are always very happy.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The quality or characteristic, which I feel is critical to success is knowing your business and being good at it. People try to start businesses all the time, but they’re not either educated in that field or it’s just a dream which they’re not sure how to execute. I bring both to the table as a licensed architect and contractor. I also offer years of experience in corporate America learning strategy and business operations.
Finally, and maybe most importantly, I believe that it’s critical as a business owner to be a human first, and ensure your employees and your clients are always treated with the utmost respect. We truly love on our clients and teams that we work beside.
