Today we’d like to introduce you to Mylene Thompson.
Mylene, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’m Mylene, the baker behind Cookies and Cravings. My journey with cookies actually started back in 2016 when I was working a busy corporate job in the Philippines. Baking was my little escape, and what started as selling cookies from my office desk quickly became a side hustle my friends and coworkers loved.
In 2019, I moved to Nashville to build a family, and during the pandemic I found myself baking even more—celebrating milestones and experimenting with flavors. What was once a hobby kept growing alongside my family.
Then, in late 2024, life took an unexpected turn when I was let go from my corporate job. It was a challenge—but also the turning point that nudged me toward my true calling. I made the bold decision to turn my love for baking into a full-time business, and in 2025, Cookies and Cravings officially launched.
What I thought would just be pop-ups and online orders has turned into something bigger—I’m now partnered with local cafés, shops, and groceries across Middle Tennessee. At the end of the day, my mission is simple: to bake cookies that bring joy and satisfy cravings—one community, one customer, and one cookie at a time.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
So far, I’d say yes—it’s been a smooth road! My biggest challenge is really just time, since it’s all me running the show. Between baking, fulfilling orders, managing the business, and being a mom, some days it feels like I’m juggling cookies in the air! But honestly, every bit of it is worth it when I see people enjoying my cookies—and reading or hearing their feedback makes it even sweeter.

Cookies and Cravings is a locally owned cottage bakery specializing in big, bold gourmet cookies made with high-quality ingredients. Known for being not too sweet—and often called better than the big-name brands—our cookies are individually heat-sealed for maximum freshness. Since January 2025, we’ve been proudly supplying local cafés, shops, and retailers across Wilson County and surrounding counties in Middle Tennessee, as well as serving customers through online orders and market pop-ups, sharing joy and sweetness one cookie at a time.

Most people don’t know that I experiment with cookie flavors late at night in my kitchen—some of my favorite creations started as total experiments I never expected people to love! Sometimes it even happens in my dreams, and as a former IT professional, I can’t help but joke that I need to ‘clear the cache and cookies’ in my brain after a long day/night.
