Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicolette Daugherty.
Hi Nicolette, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
When the opportunity for The Dog House came, I had a 6 month old and was working from home full time with her doing Fraud Investigations. I knew that I wanted to continue to work, but needed more time with my babies (I have 3). I had been a Fraud Investigator for the State of TN, and then several financial institutions since 2013 giving more of my time to work than family which never felt normal for me. I joked about the idea of the food trailer and hotdogs with everyone close to me, who in turn thought I was insane.
I know that I took a very unconventional route, went against the grain, and gave up a very good, steady income but there has never been a day that I didn’t truly believe in TDH. I was never meant to be put in a box, and I was always meant to be a mama first. This allows me both! I truly think my passion for serving others has gotten TDH where it is just a short year later, and what has me here today. Used to, people would hate to see me coming. Now they chase me down!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not. There’s nothing about the food truck world that is easy. Only those in this world would understand, but it is much more than just pulling up a trailer and serving people.
Running your own business has enough battles if it’s own. Every time I pull out of the driveway, I’m not sure how it’s going to go or what kind of money I’m going to make and that’s been a challenge, the unknown, but I have never stopped believing in this business or my ability to work hard for what I want.

TDH is a locally sourced, owned, and operated food trailer serving up gourmet, 100% Angus Beef hotdogs to the good folks of Wilson and surrounding counties! Our customer service is just as good as our food, and the vibes we bring to each and every parking lot are unmatched.
