Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Deitz.
Hi Robert, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Reef Route Aquatics actually starter on accident. I never intended it to be a business or something someone could make money from. I started out on online fish forums, and Facebook groups. A company was dropping 1-900-0000 banners for Aquarium help over the phone. I approached the moderators, and admins, I thought that was wrong, we’re all here to help, and no one took action. So, I started dropping banners for Reef Route Aquatics. “We’ll Help You For FREE!” I used an old Magic Jack phone, and got my first Gmail account. I was running into people locally, and started going to homes, and help for a monetary fee. Here I am 9 years later.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Smooth? No. There are so many hurdles in business, and I’ve learned so much a long the way. Finding a good accountant has been challenging, and all the other issues like small business tax, and gas prices haven’t made things easy.
We’ve been impressed with Reef Route Aquatics LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Reef Route Aquatics, services and installs aquarium. We handle everything from custom aquarium builds, reef aquariums, aquatic turtles. We even serviced a client with a alligator. I think what I’m known for, and what sets me apart from all the others, is the fact that I’m honest, and I’m not money driven like so many other aquarium service companies. I honestly love what I do, and I’ll keep doing as long as I can. If you’re in the middle Tennessee area, and you need an aquarium, or need it cleaned? Look us up.
What are your plans for the future?
I’m wanting to build a “Fish Shed” on my property. Not only to get my business out of my house, and make the wife happy, but also to start propagating corals, and plants. Not just for my clients, but for sale over the internet.
